Landore's Hoard

Landore Bugg inherited the rambling, half-sunken house at the edge of a tiny crossroads years ago. He is a genial and overly sentimental tinkerer who refused to throw anything away. Over time the house filled with mismatched furniture, crates of 'someday parts', and curios from passing traders. When coin grew thin, Landore cleared two rooms and began renting them to travelers; the income keeps him buying more junk. The house is known in the area as a place where a stranger can sleep cheap, find an odd tool, or be pressed into helping retrieve something lost in the 'hoard'.

History

Landore Bugg inherited the rambling, half-sunken house at the edge of a tiny crossroads years ago. He is a genial and overly sentimental tinkerer who refused to throw anything away. Over time the house filled with mismatched furniture, crates of 'someday parts', and curios from passing traders. When coin grew thin, Landore cleared two rooms and began renting them to travelers; the income keeps him buying more junk. The house is known in the area as a place where a stranger can sleep cheap, find an odd tool, or be pressed into helping retrieve something lost in the 'hoard'.

Quirks

Landore hoards everything and prices are flexible - he prefers trade in odd items, favors, or stories over straight coin. He catalogs new items on scraps of paper that he staples to the objects; sometimes two slips go missing and he forgets what he charged. The house creaks as if it were breathing; odd, muffled thumps are normal. Landore tells anyone who will listen that 'everything has a place, if you can find it', and he will give a traveler a free mug for a good story.

Lore

Locals tell two contradictory tales: one says Landore once salvaged a merchant caravan and collected the most interesting items; the other insists he bartered with a river hag long ago for 'useful junk' that never runs out. Superstitious folk avoid a small, carved wooden doll in Landore's collection. The house is called 'The Bugg's Hoard' by most travelers, though Landore simply calls it his workshop.
