The Sly Barnacle

Once a tool shed used by smugglers, The Sly Barnacle was converted into a clandestine tavern generations ago. It’s been rebuilt after at least two suspicious fires and is now run by Mira Saltwhisper, who inherited the place from her elven mother. Its reputation as a safe port for the dockside's 'resourceful' types keeps the law at bay—but only just.

History

Once a tool shed used by smugglers, The Sly Barnacle was converted into a clandestine tavern generations ago. It’s been rebuilt after at least two suspicious fires and is now run by Mira Saltwhisper, who inherited the place from her elven mother. Its reputation as a safe port for the dockside's 'resourceful' types keeps the law at bay—but only just.

Quirks

The walls are decorated with faded, salt-stained flags from lost ships; staff communicate in a mixture of nautical slang and thieves’ cant. At odd hours a raven, rumored to be someone's familiar, hops across tabletops, snatching bread when no one is watching.

Lore

Some claim that The Sly Barnacle was the gathering point of the legendary Coral Knives, a thieves’ guild who vanished a century ago. The old trapdoor and tunnel networks are said to hide treasures for those bold (or foolish) enough to seek them. The ghostly ringing of the Rusted Bell late at night is blamed for strange disappearances—and the return of lost memories to those desperate, drunken enough to listen.
