The Roaring Hearth
The Roaring Hearth opened twenty-odd years ago when Marta Brindle traded her wagon and a ring of silver for a crumbling stone cottage on the village lane. It began as a stopping point for drovers and itinerant tradesfolk. Over the years it has been the scene of three weddings, one minor fire, and a truce brokered between the village miller and an irate caravan master. The inn remains a steady, if humble, anchor for the hamlet and the trade road that passes through it.
