The Veiled Censer

The Veiled Censer opened its doors fifty years ago at the heart of Sigil’s Shadow Quarter, founded by a secretive cabal of warlocks and planar scholars. It quickly became a haven for travelers from every corner of the Multiverse—especially those who preferred to keep their dealings cloaked in shadow and mystery. Over time, it gained a reputation as a neutral ground where even the most dangerous factions would hesitate to draw weapons.

History

The Veiled Censer opened its doors fifty years ago at the heart of Sigil’s Shadow Quarter, founded by a secretive cabal of warlocks and planar scholars. It quickly became a haven for travelers from every corner of the Multiverse—especially those who preferred to keep their dealings cloaked in shadow and mystery. Over time, it gained a reputation as a neutral ground where even the most dangerous factions would hesitate to draw weapons.

Quirks

The Veiled Censer’s shadows never seem quite natural; they sometimes stretch or flicker oddly, and occasionally whisper faint secrets or warnings in obscure planar dialects. Lighting shifts subtly depending on the planes' influence, and small magical anomalies create minor illusions or sensations at random intervals.

Lore

Whispered legends claim the tavern’s foundation stone was quarried from the very essence of the Abyss, granting the establishment a thin weave between planes which causes its strange ambiance and unstable magic. Some say the tavern appears shifted or altered depending on the visitor’s plane of origin. Elyra Voss’s mysterious patron is rumored to be a shadowy entity from the Shadowfell or possibly the Lady of Pain herself’s agent, though nothing is proven.
