The King's Watchhouse
The King's Watchhouse was established two generations ago when the old palace stables were converted to provide a central mess and sleeping quarters for the guard. Seren Halbrooke, then a young lieutenant, persuaded the crown to replace the previous contractor and took over management after his regiment returned from a border campaign. Over time it became both a barracks and a public-facing tavern for officers, clerks and authorized visitors.
