The Broken Fang

Originally opened thirty years ago as a backstreet tavern, the Broken Fang became notorious when Branha Tuskjaw won it in a pit fight. Since then, it’s grown into a beloved (and feared) watering hole for mercenaries, adventurers, and anyone who likes their ale strong and their nights unpredictable. Fistfights are so common that many believe Branha encourages the violence to settle old scores and recruit new muscle.

History

Originally opened thirty years ago as a backstreet tavern, the Broken Fang became notorious when Branha Tuskjaw won it in a pit fight. Since then, it’s grown into a beloved (and feared) watering hole for mercenaries, adventurers, and anyone who likes their ale strong and their nights unpredictable. Fistfights are so common that many believe Branha encourages the violence to settle old scores and recruit new muscle.

Quirks

Patrons are encouraged to solve personal disputes in the brawl pit; winners earn free drinks and applause. The tavern’s furnishings are mismatched, with scorch marks, blade scores, and at least one shattered tooth embedded in a table leg. Bards set up cages to protect their instruments from flying tankards or rowdy dancers. Branha personally throws out anyone who draws real blood—or, at least, tries.

Lore

It’s said the original owner buried a small fortune beneath the tavern, guarded by ancient wards and only accessible to the truly bold (or foolish). Old timers say that the Brawl Pit is built directly over something much older—some claim to have seen runes or felt chills in its sand after dark. Adventurers sometimes leave coded messages scratched into the tables, waiting for someone to notice.
