Quirks

Every full moon the tavern swaps one menu item for a 'special' whose recipe is a secret whispered to the staff. Regulars tap three times on the bar to order it. A rattling coin can be heard under the loose floorboard by the hearth; patrons throw in unwanted IOUs instead of tipping.

Lore

Locals say the tavern sits atop an old tollstone carved by a now-forgotten baron. Superstition holds that as long as the Broken Mug pours cheap ale and keeps a brawl every few months, travelers pass safely through the nearby wood. The town watch rolls their eyes, but at funerals you might still hear an old refrain thanking the tavern for wayward souls finding a reprieve.
