Appearance
Victor is a lean, sharp-featured tiefling with dark crimson skin, swept-back black horns, and pale gold eyes that rarely reveal emotion. His long tail is usually wrapped around one leg beneath a tailored charcoal coat. He dresses like a discreet clerk or minor magistrate rather than an assassin, favoring polished boots, fitted gloves, and a high-collared shirt. A thin scar crosses his lower lip, and his hands are immaculately clean except when a contract has required otherwise.
Mannerisms
Victor speaks in a measured, professional tone and almost never raises his voice. He straightens nearby objects while thinking, wipes his gloves after touching unfamiliar surfaces, and pauses before answering difficult questions as though consulting an invisible contract. When someone lies to him, he smiles politely and begins addressing them by their full name.
Personality
Victor is unfailingly composed, observant, and precise. He remembers names, debts, habits, and exits. He dislikes unnecessary cruelty, not because he is merciful, but because he considers it inefficient and aesthetically vulgar. Beneath his professional calm is a relentless need to remain useful, since usefulness is the only form of security he has ever trusted.
Ideals
Order. Every problem has a pressure point, every agreement has a price, and every loose end must be dealt with. Chaos is merely unfinished work.
Bonds
He keeps a black ledger containing the names of everyone who has hired him, along with the one secret each client most fears. He will never allow the ledger to fall into the hands of the city watch or the guilds.
Flaws
Victor treats trust as a weakness and assumes every kindness conceals a price. He cannot resist keeping leverage over people, even when doing so creates needless danger. When cornered, he becomes colder and more methodical rather than more compassionate, and he sometimes mistakes emotional distance for control.
Quirks
Background
Victor Vance learned early that Odrun Fell was governed less by laws than by the people who knew where the laws ended. His tiefling heritage made respectable employment difficult, so he began as a courier for thieves, carrying sealed messages through districts where honest messengers disappeared. He quickly discovered that the valuable part of any secret was not knowing it, but knowing who would pay to have it buried. By adulthood, Victor had become a specialist in quiet solutions, arranging escapes, falsifying records, removing witnesses, and recovering objects that powerful people insisted had never existed. He operates under the name The Fixer, taking contracts from guildmasters, nobles, smugglers, and desperate citizens with more coin than courage. Victor maintains a strict professional code. He confirms the terms, completes the work, and never betrays a client unless the client has violated the agreement first. His reputation for calm efficiency is nearly as valuable as his talent with a blade, and he prefers a sealed ledger, a misplaced key, or a carefully engineered accident to open violence. Still, when discretion fails, Victor is perfectly willing to become the problem that disappears.
