Appearance
Bubbann is a broad, compact hill dwarf with a polished copper beard divided into three thick braids, each tipped with a tiny brass bell. His powerful jaw and square teeth are immediately noticeable, especially when he laughs or chews, which he does with unconcealed enthusiasm. He wears saffron and burgundy performance robes over practical monk's garments, with soft leather footwraps and a wooden mask hanging at his belt. Though short even by dwarf standards, he occupies every room as if it were a stage, standing with his feet planted wide and gesturing with his whole body.
Mannerisms
Bubbann counts under his breath before beginning any task, taps rhythms against his thigh when thinking, and punctuates important statements with a sudden flourish of both hands. When he laughs, he throws his head back and shows every square tooth. He addresses opponents as if introducing them to an audience.
Personality
Bubbann is warm, theatrical, and relentlessly encouraging. He treats sparring as conversation, meals as celebrations, and travel as a chance to collect new rhythms. Beneath the jokes is a patient observer who notices who has been left out of a conversation and quietly draws them in. He prefers to solve problems without cruelty, but his good humor vanishes when someone uses authority to humiliate the helpless.
Ideals
Discipline should make room for joy. A life lived with perfect control but no laughter is only another kind of prison.
Bonds
Bubbann still carries the cracked hand drum given to him by his first monastery teacher. He believes the monastery's reputation depends on him proving that joy and discipline are not opposites. He also sends a portion of every performance's earnings home to fund repairs to his clan's aging communal hall.
Flaws
Bubbann cannot resist turning a serious moment into a performance, even when silence would be wiser. He is easily baited by anyone who mocks dwarven dancing, monastery discipline, or his height. He also assumes that if a plan cannot be improved with a beat, a flourish, or a dramatic entrance, it was probably a poor plan to begin with.
Quirks
Background
Bubbann was raised among the stone halls of a hill dwarf clan whose elders believed that discipline belonged in every craft, from hammering iron to pouring ale. As a child, he had an inconvenient gift for rhythm. He could hear the hidden beat in mine carts, dripping caverns, and the synchronized footsteps of marching guards. Rather than punish his restlessness, a traveling monastery accepted him as a student, teaching him to turn that rhythm into breath control, balance, and precise strikes. Bubbann never became the quiet ascetic his teachers expected. He became something more useful, a monk who could make a crowd laugh before making a thug reconsider his life choices.
