Appearance
Mr. Telloh is a weathered tortle with a moss-stained shell polished smooth at the edges from years of travel and kneeling in prayer. He wears modest cleric vestments layered over a practical adventurer's belt, with a wooden holy symbol hanging at his chest and a shield that bears devotional carvings rather than martial trophies. His eyes are calm but constantly scanning for exits, wounded companions, and any sign that a quarrel can be interrupted before it turns bloody.
Mannerisms
He speaks slowly and softly, often pausing to let others finish even when they are angry. In tense moments he folds his hands over the front of his shell, and when he prays he bows his head so deeply that his chin nearly touches the carved edge of his shield.
Personality
Patient, gentle, and stubbornly hopeful. Mr. Telloh treats every argument like a wound that can be bandaged if people just stop shouting long enough to listen. He dislikes cruelty in any form, but he is not passive, he will quietly insert himself between danger and the vulnerable without asking permission.
Ideals
Mercy. Every conflict should be ended with the least harm possible, and healing someone is always better than proving you can wound them.
Bonds
He carries a small prayer token from his shrine, and he believes his faith will fail him if he lets it be taken or broken. He is fiercely devoted to the safety of his companions, especially anyone who cannot defend themselves.
Flaws
He hesitates too long when violence first erupts, hoping every foe can still be reasoned with. When he is finally forced to attack, he feels such spiritual guilt that he may become timid and overcautious for several minutes afterward.

Background
Mr. Telloh was raised in a quiet coastal shrine where the priests taught that mercy is not weakness, but discipline. As a young tortle, he learned to mend fishing nets, copy scripture, and sit in silence until angry voices outside the temple walls had cooled. His faith shaped him into a healer first and a combatant last, and he made a private vow that his hands would be used to steady the frightened, not strike the furious. When strangers came to the shrine seeking mediation, Telloh discovered that he was better at calming tempers than winning arguments, and far better at patching wounds than causing them. He left the shrine when a pilgrimage route was plagued by bandits and desperate raiders. He refused to become a weapon for the church, so instead he became a shield for anyone willing to walk the road beside him. Telloh steps between conflict and compassion with stubborn gentleness, using prayers, bandages, and patient words to turn violence aside. Only when a companion is moments from death, or when all escape is gone, will he loose a radiant bolt of divine force. Even then, the act costs him dearly, and afterward he withdraws into his shell, exhausted and ashamed that he had to break his vow at all.
