Appearance
A lean human soldier with a tired, watchful face, cropped dark hair, and a scar across one eyebrow. Sakuro wears chain mail over practical travel clothes, keeps gear impeccably arranged, and carries himself like someone who learned to stand at attention even when the world is falling apart.
Mannerisms
He stands at attention when thinking, unconsciously checking imaginary straps and buckles. When uncertain, he taps two fingers against the hilt of his weapon as if counting beats in a marching cadence.
Personality
Quiet, observant, and intensely dependable. Sakuro speaks sparingly, but when he does, he is blunt, practical, and surprisingly considerate. He respects competence, keeps his word, and has a dry sense of humor that surfaces only after others have already relaxed.
Ideals
Duty. A promise kept under pressure is worth more than a hundred boastful speeches. Sakuro believes a person proves their worth by showing up when others are afraid to.
Bonds
He still carries a dented token from his old unit, and he will risk himself to protect anyone who earns the trust of that memory. He quietly believes the fallen deserve to be remembered by name, not as numbers on a ledger.
Flaws
Sakuro trusts procedure more easily than people, and when a situation becomes emotionally messy he retreats into cold efficiency. He can also become stubborn to the point of self-harm, refusing to step back once he has decided that holding position is the honorable thing to do.
Quirks
Background
Sakuro was raised on drill squares, not lullabies. By the time he was old enough to understand the difference between a trumpet call and a funeral march, he was already learning how to brace a spear, march in step, and obey orders before questions. He remembers his childhood in fragments, the creak of leather straps, the smell of wet iron, and the stern voices of sergeants who praised discipline as if it were a holy virtue. Whatever softness he once had was hammered into something harder and quieter by years of service. He entered the battlefield as a human soldier with no grand ambitions, only the stubborn need to hold the line when others faltered. That practical instinct made him a dependable shield-bearer, but it also exposed a painful truth, he was not built for glory, only endurance. Now, as a fighter at the beginning of his career, Sakuro has begun to question whether loyalty to banners is enough. He keeps marching because he knows how, but the world beyond the campfire has started to feel wider than any commander's map, and he is learning that courage is not the absence of fear, but the decision to advance anyway.
