Appearance
Venna is a lean human woman with a wiry, restless frame and a presence that fills a room like a shadow refusing to be ignored. Chaotic tattoos coil across her skin in intricate, irrational patterns, vanishing beneath the edges of a torn leather jacket. Her dark hair is cropped close, shaved at the sides, with a sharp shock of silver at her temple. She favors modern street clothes, scuffed boots, layered shirts, fingerless gloves, and no visible armor. Her eyes are bright, watchful, and often fixed on things no one else can see.
Mannerisms
Venna leans against doorframes instead of standing normally, tilts her head when people speak as if listening to a second conversation, and answers serious questions with a smile that arrives a moment too late. She traces the edges of her tattoos when thinking and occasionally narrates her own actions in a low whisper.
Personality
Venna is charismatic, invasive, and impossible to fully read. She treats every conversation as a performance and every stranger as a puzzle with a hidden mechanism. Her humor is bright and inappropriate, her attention is unnervingly intense, and her affection is expressed through elaborate tests of loyalty. Beneath the instability is a sharp, disciplined mind that notices details other people discard.
Ideals
Identity is a costume, and freedom belongs to whoever can change costumes fastest. No authority deserves obedience merely because it has a seal, a uniform, or a convincing story.
Bonds
The missing ledger of names belongs to Venna, even if it does not yet know that. She will ruin anyone who possesses it, and she will not abandon a former mark who was genuinely harmed by one of her old schemes.
Flaws
Venna cannot leave a lie unfinished. If someone doubts her, she will escalate, embellish, and risk everything to make the falsehood feel real. She is jealous of anyone who seems emotionally stable, and she sometimes sabotages honest relationships because she suspects sincerity is only a more sophisticated con.
Quirks
Background
Venna grew up moving between crowded human districts, roadside markets, and rented rooms above businesses that never asked too many questions. Her family survived through small cons, counterfeit charms, staged hauntings, and carefully invented tragedies. Venna learned early that people rarely wanted the truth. They wanted a story that made them feel clever, righteous, frightened, or special. She became exceptionally good at giving them exactly that, then disappearing before the story collapsed. Her obsession began with a stolen ledger said to contain the names of everyone who had ever been fooled by a certain traveling confidence ring. Venna became convinced that the ledger was not merely a record, but a living thing that remembered every lie written inside it. She followed its clues through illegal auctions, abandoned shrines, and the private collections of minor nobles, eventually discovering that the ring had been using illusion magic to manipulate its marks. Rather than expose them, Venna learned the techniques herself. Now an Arcane Trickster, she combines practiced deceit with whispered spells, invisible hands, and theatrical misdirection. She is searching for the ledger still, convinced that it is choosing her next lie for her.
