Appearance
Darrion is a tall, wiry man with skin the color of old parchment and hair cropped close to a skull mapped with thin, white scars. His eyes are a pale, unsettling grey, like a winter fog, and rarely blink. He wears dark, oil-slicked studded leather that doesn't reflect light, and his gear is meticulously maintained, stripped of any unnecessary ornamentation.
Mannerisms
Darrion has a habit of tapping his fingers against his bowstring in a rhythmic, slow beat while observing others. He never laughs, only offering a short, sharp exhale when something amuses him.
Personality
He is a man of few words and zero empathy, viewing the world as a series of targets and obstacles. Darrion is intensely pragmatic, he will help his allies only as long as they are useful for his survival or profit. He speaks with a dry, raspy tone and treats every social interaction like a tactical assessment.
Ideals
Might. In this world, the strong survive and the weak provide for them. There is no justice, only the efficiency of the kill.
Bonds
I still carry a cracked bone compass from my former sergeant. It reminds me that relying on others is a death sentence.
Flaws
I am entirely willing to abandon my companions if the situation turns dire and their deaths provide me a better chance of escape.
Quirks
Background
Darrion spent a decade as a scout in the imperial infantry, where he learned that moral high ground is easily buried under a pile of corpses. He excelled at the work, not because he loved his country, but because he possessed a natural aptitude for the quiet, efficient elimination of human targets. When his unit was ambushed and slaughtered due to a commander's incompetence, Darrion didn't try to save his comrades. He simply used the distraction to slip away into the deep woods, letting his former life burn out behind him. He spent years in the wilderness, refining his hatred into a precise tool. To him, the woods are not a sanctuary but a hunting ground where the strongest claim what they want. He now operates as a mercenary and guide, though those who hire him often find that his loyalty is as thin as the edge of his blade. He is not motivated by cruelty for its own sake, but by a cold, unwavering belief that the world is a cruel place and he must be the cruelest thing in it to survive.
