Appearance
Vespa Songbrook is a striking half-elf with wavy dark hair usually pinned up in a deliberately careless style, bright green eyes that never stop appraising a room, and a smile that looks one part invitation and two parts warning. She favors fitted travel clothes under a smart but slightly rumpled coat, with a lute slung across her back and a silvered ring of false charms and trinkets that catch the light when she talks. Her posture is relaxed, almost lazy, but her gaze is sharp enough to make people feel as if they are already part of her next scheme.
Mannerisms
She talks with one eyebrow raised and punctuates insults with a grin. When she is interested in someone, she circles them like a cat pretending not to stalk. She taps a rhythm on nearby surfaces when thinking, and when she is nervous she makes it worse by becoming even more sarcastic.
Personality
Sarcastic, flirtatious, and impossible to pin down, Vespa treats every conversation like a duel and every duel like a flirtation. She hates being told what to do, loves anyone who can make her laugh, and trusts instinct over authority. Under the teasing and swagger, she is fiercely protective of the underdog and surprisingly sentimental when nobody is watching.
Ideals
Freedom. Nobody owns my choices, my heart, or my song. I help people best when I am unbound, answerable to no tyrant, no law, and no petty expectations.
Bonds
She keeps a hidden token from the first person who ever believed one of her lies was the truth, and she refuses to lose it. She also feels responsible for anyone who is brave enough to trust her, even when she pretends not to care.
Flaws
She cannot resist a pretty face, a clever compliment, or the thrill of an obviously bad idea. She lies so naturally that even when the truth would serve her better, she sometimes chooses the performance instead. When someone tries to control her, she becomes reckless out of pure spite.
Quirks
Background
Vespa Songbrook learned early that the fastest way to survive was to be quicker with a smile than the world was with a blade. Born to a wandering half-elf mother and a father she never knew, she drifted between river towns, market camps, and roadside theaters, earning coin by singing, flirting, and telling stories that were just believable enough. She discovered that a well-timed insult could deflect suspicion, that a playful lie could open a locked door, and that lonely people would forgive almost anything if she made them feel interesting. Her talent for performance became her favorite kind of theft, not merely taking coin, but taking attention, secrets, and kisses. Vespa built aliases the way other people built homes, with false papers, borrowed accents, and a dozen tiny disasters that somehow always left her unscathed. She picked up the lute from a one-night patron who insisted she had the soul of a star, then taught herself to turn every heartbreak into a verse. Now she wanders because settling down feels like surrender, chasing danger, applause, and impossible beautiful faces with equal enthusiasm. She says she is looking for the next grand adventure, but the truth is simpler, she is looking for the next person who can keep up with her.
