Appearance
Sahrzha Vardun is a broad-shouldered air genasi woman with skin the pale blue-gray of storm light and hair that lifts and separates as though touched by a constant indoor breeze. She dresses in well-cut but travel-worn noble clothes beneath a dark leather coat, with a rapier at her hip and a collection of fine lockpicks hidden among jeweled accessories. Within a minute of meeting her, people notice that her eyes rarely settle on faces. They track doors, windows, balconies, hands, and the empty space above everyone's shoulders. She walks with a measured, slightly drifting gait, as if the ground were an inconvenience, and becomes unnervingly still whenever she is deciding whether to trust someone.
Mannerisms
She pauses before entering any room to feel the air currents against her face. During conversation, she casually rearranges nearby objects into neat lines, then disrupts the pattern with one deliberate item. She addresses servants, guards, and rulers with almost exactly the same polished courtesy, which makes it difficult to tell whether she is being respectful or mocking them.
Personality
Sahrzha is composed, incisive, and socially graceful until someone assumes her manners indicate obedience. She enjoys expensive food, excellent architecture, and the quiet satisfaction of noticing what everyone else overlooks. She is generous toward people trapped by institutions, suspicious of anyone who says they are only following orders, and most comfortable when she has three exits and at least one secret.
Ideals
Freedom. No title, oath, family, god, or law has the right to own a person's future. If a door is locked, someone has decided who may pass through it, and that decision can be challenged.
Bonds
When her family became entangled in a political betrayal, Sahrzha discovered that the evidence had been hidden inside their own estate and that someone she trusted had helped arrange the ruin. She fled before the house could be stripped of its title, taking only a signet ring, a rapier, and a ledger naming the people who profited from her family's fall. She became a rogue by necessity, first stealing documents and keys, then secrets, and finally the confidence of people who believed noble manners made her harmless. She now travels to recover the missing pages of that ledger, not to restore her family's rank, but to decide for herself who deserves to lose everything.
Flaws
Sahrzha cannot resist proving that she is more observant, capable, or difficult to deceive than the person in front of her. She treats sincere affection as a possible trap and would rather create a complicated escape plan than admit she needs help. When offered a simple honest choice, she often chooses the option with the greatest freedom, even when it leaves innocent people carrying the consequences.
Quirks
Background
Sahrzha Vardun was born into a minor noble house whose estates stood along a wind-scoured trade road. Her family possessed little wealth but maintained old claims of ancestry, ceremonial obligations, and a reputation for never allowing a guest to leave hungry. Sahrzha found the rituals suffocating. She preferred slipping through servants' passages, listening beneath council chambers, and learning which visiting dignitary lied most convincingly. Her elemental nature made her difficult to contain. Doors slammed when she was angry, candles guttered when she was bored, and once, during a formal supper, every goblet in the room rose briefly from the table.
