Appearance
Gage is a lean, sharp-featured half-elf with warm brown skin, pointed ears, and shoulder-length black hair threaded with a single silver streak. Her pale green eyes constantly track exits, hands, and hidden movement. She wears a well-maintained black leather coat over practical dark clothing, soft boots, fingerless gloves, and a narrow red scarf. Several small knives are concealed throughout her outfit, while a set of polished thieves' tools rests in a belt case.
Mannerisms
Gage silently counts doors, windows, and visible weapons whenever she enters a room. She rolls a coin across her knuckles while thinking, tilts her head when someone lies, and rarely sits with her back to an entrance.
Personality
Gage is observant, dryly humorous, and relentlessly practical. She prefers clever solutions over heroic displays and treats conversation like a puzzle, listening for what people avoid saying. Although she presents herself as self-sufficient, she is fiercely protective of companions who earn her trust.
Ideals
Freedom. No lord, guild, temple, or law should own another person's choices. Secrets are safest in the hands of those willing to use them against the powerful.
Bonds
Gage carries her mother's brass compass, which always points toward the last known location of the syndicate's hidden archive. She will risk almost anything to protect people abandoned by powerful institutions.
Flaws
Gage assumes every kindness has a hidden price. She is incapable of leaving a locked door unopened, even when opening it is clearly dangerous. When cornered, she lies first and thinks about the consequences later.
Quirks
Background
Gage grew up between two worlds and belonged fully to neither. Her elven mother was a mapmaker who vanished after angering a noble patron, while her human father worked as a dockside bookkeeper and taught Gage to read ledgers, locks, and people. After her father's death, Gage survived by running messages through the city, eventually becoming an accomplished burglar for a discreet criminal syndicate. Her half-elven appearance made her useful in places where humans were too obvious and elves were too memorable, allowing her to pass through high society, merchant districts, and thieves' dens with equal ease. Her career changed when a burglary revealed that the syndicate had arranged her mother's disappearance years earlier. Gage stole the evidence, betrayed the organization, and disappeared into the wider world. She now works as an adventurer, using investigation and infiltration to expose powerful criminals while maintaining enough underworld connections to keep herself supplied. She claims to seek only answers and profit, but secretly hopes to find her mother alive and learn whether the old betrayal was personal, political, or both.
