Appearance
A broad-shouldered human man with an earnest face, warm hazel eyes, and neatly kept chestnut hair that falls into his brow when he is excited. He dresses like a traveling cantor turned adventurer, in well-worn leather armor over practical travel clothes, with a holy symbol tucked beside a bard's instrument. His hands are expressive and quick, always punctuating his words as if every sentence deserves an audience.
Mannerisms
He stands half a step in front of his companions without realizing it, as if his body has decided to shield others before his mind catches up. When he speaks earnestly, he presses a hand to his chest or taps the hilt of his rapier, and when he is worried he hums an old temple hymn under his breath.
Personality
Bart is warm, direct, and fiercely encouraging, the kind of man who remembers everyone’s name, notices who is standing alone, and makes a point of drawing them into the circle. He is cheerful in a way that feels practiced only because he has had to learn how to carry hope for other people, and beneath that bright front is a vigilant protector who never stops watching for danger.
Ideals
Courage should be shared, not hoarded. A leader is not the strongest person in the room, but the one who helps everyone else stand taller.
Bonds
His faith and his friends are sacred to him, and he will cross any line, brave any danger, or tell any lie to keep them safe. He keeps a small token from the first person who ever called him a leader instead of a dreamer, and he treats it like a saint's relic.
Flaws
He takes insults to his friends personally and can become recklessly confrontational when he thinks someone is being treated unfairly. He also overcommits, promising he can rally people, solve disputes, and carry burdens that are too heavy for one man, then stubbornly refuses to admit when he needs help.
Quirks
Background
Bartholomew Melichor grew up with a hero's heart trapped in an ordinary life. As a child he imagined charging into burning keeps, rescuing strangers from monsters, and standing fearless at the center of impossible battles. Instead, he was the sort of boy people patted on the head, dismissed with a smile, or used when they needed help no one else wanted to give. He learned early that kindness was often mistaken for weakness, yet he kept offering it anyway. When others mocked his dreams of glory, he began to notice something important, the people they followed were not always the strongest, only the ones who could make others believe they were not alone.
