Appearance
Gorrok is a massive male orc, a full head taller than most hobgoblins, with russet skin darkened to the color of dried blood. His body is covered in a latticework of scars, including a prominent wound that runs from his left temple across his broken nose to the corner of his mouth, pulling his lip into a permanent half-snarl. His deep-set black eyes hold a cold, calculating intelligence. His hair is shorn close, his pointed left ear missing a small piece. He wears battered dark steel plate armor etched with crude angular warding runes, oversized spiked pauldrons, reinforced gauntlets, and a fur-lined cloak of dark, soot-stained pelt fastened with an iron wolf-head clasp. A massive greataxe rests across his back, while a curved blade and worn warhammer hang at his belt.
Mannerisms
Gorrok speaks in a low, measured rumble and rarely repeats himself. He stands perfectly still when others argue, watching them as if judging a military formation. Before making a decision, he slowly runs one thumb along the edge of his greataxe. When displeased, he taps two iron-clad fingers against his breastplate in a steady rhythm.
Personality
Gorrok is deliberate, observant, and intensely self-controlled. He does not seek violence for pleasure, but he considers violence the clearest language of authority. He evaluates every person as a resource, threat, liability, or potential subordinate. He respects competence wherever he finds it, though respect never prevents him from exploiting someone who has earned it.
Ideals
Order. The world is ruled by those capable of imposing structure upon it. Freedom without discipline is merely another word for chaos, and chaos must be crushed before it spreads.
Bonds
The encampment he rules is his creation and his responsibility. He will destroy anyone who threatens it, even if doing so costs him allies, wealth, or his own life.
Flaws
Gorrok cannot tolerate disobedience, especially when it comes from someone he considers weaker or less competent. He mistakes fear for loyalty and often tests allies until they either submit or leave. He is convinced that mercy invites betrayal, and he would rather destroy a useful relationship than risk appearing vulnerable.
Quirks
Background
Gorrok was born among an orc warband that valued obedience more than bloodline. He learned early that strength alone was crude, while disciplined strength could command armies. As a young warrior, he served as a shield-bearer, executioner, and eventually battlefield captain. He studied formations, supply lines, siegecraft, and the fragile habits that caused commanders to lose wars. His rise was marked by victories that left no room for mercy. He did not slaughter indiscriminately, but he never allowed sentiment to interfere with a necessary result. When his warband was betrayed by a rival chieftain, Gorrok survived a battle that killed nearly everyone under his command. He gathered the remnants, claimed the abandoned encampment, and rebuilt it through ruthless order. Criminals, deserters, goblins, hobgoblins, and orcs all found a place beneath his rule, provided they obeyed his laws and proved useful. Over the years, he transformed the camp into a disciplined military settlement, one that survives because every resident understands the cost of disobedience. Gorrok now seeks greater territory and more dangerous enemies, convinced that peace is merely the pause between wars and that only those prepared to rule deserve to survive.
