Appearance
Mikel Quispe is a broad-shouldered warforged built from dark ironwood, worn bronze plates, and iron rivets dulled by years of field work. His face is simple and practical, with a narrow visor of amber glass instead of eyes and a jaw assembled from overlapping metal plates. Faded red and ochre paint marks remain along his shoulders, remnants of the unit that first deployed him. His armor is permanently integrated into his frame, scarred by dents and repaired with mismatched bolts. A short black cloak hangs from one shoulder, and a weathered red cord is tied around his left wrist.
Mannerisms
Mikel pauses before answering, as if waiting for an internal command that never arrives. He taps the fingers of his left hand against his thigh while thinking, counts doorways under his breath, and automatically positions himself between strangers and the nearest obvious threat.
Personality
Mikel is direct, patient with frightened people, and impatient with posturing. He prefers useful work to ceremony and respects anyone who keeps a promise when breaking it would be easier. Though he claims not to care what others think, he remembers every kindness and every betrayal with exacting precision.
Ideals
Freedom. No living being should be owned, ordered, or discarded without the right to refuse.
Bonds
The surviving members of Mikel's old unit are the closest thing he has to family. He will cross dangerous country to protect a former comrade, even when that comrade has become an enemy of the law.
Flaws
Mikel treats hesitation as a moral failure and often commits to a course of action before considering who will have to live with the consequences. He is also quietly terrified that his loyalty is only another form of programming.
Quirks
Background
Mikel Quispe was assembled for a border regiment that needed soldiers who could march through high passes without sleep, warmth, or complaint. His first memories are of thin mountain air, mule bells, and officers arguing over maps in a language he did not understand. He learned the practical lessons quickly. Hold the line. Count the arrows. Carry the wounded. Never trust a quiet ravine. Mikel became known less for discipline than for results, often breaking formation to rescue civilians, pursue deserters, or settle disputes with the blunt end of his flail. After the regiment was disbanded, Mikel discovered that his orders had ended but his habits had not. He still wakes before dawn, still checks every exit, and still feels responsible whenever people begin organizing themselves around him. He travels now as a hired blade and occasional caravan guard, taking work that offers movement and refusing employers who treat people as expendable equipment. He claims he is searching for the workshop where he was made, but privately he wants to find the people who decided a machine could be given a life, then abandoned it with no explanation.
