Appearance
A razor-headed human woman with full-body tattoos layered like a private archive across her scalp, neck, arms, torso, and legs. She dresses in a midriff-baring tank top, a cropped leather jacket, tight leather pants, and heavy boots, a modern streetwise look that clashes with the brutal reality of prison life. Her posture is coiled and alert, her expression cool and unreadable, and the air around her seems to tighten whenever her psionic focus wakes beneath her skin.
Mannerisms
She rarely blinks first, and when she is thinking, her eyes drift slightly as though she is aligning invisible objects in the air. She taps two fingers against her temple before acting, like she is checking a private count of pressure, distance, and escape routes. In conversation she speaks softly, but every sentence lands like a threat or a confession.
Personality
Coldly observant, fiercely self-reliant, and surprisingly protective once someone earns her loyalty. She speaks with clipped confidence and prefers action over debate, but beneath the hard shell is a woman who notices every slight, every trembling hand, every lie told to protect a friend. She is not cruel for its own sake, she simply has no patience for weakness dressed up as authority.
Ideals
Freedom, above all. No one should own another person's body, name, or future. She believes order is only valuable when it protects the vulnerable, and she will tear apart any law that exists only to protect the powerful.
Bonds
She keeps the names of her old crew encoded in the tattoos across her ribs, and she will burn down a kingdom before she lets their memory be erased. She also clings to one very specific prison warden's key, stolen long ago and now worn hidden against her skin, because it is the only clue to the sibling she lost to the same crooked system that swallowed her.
Flaws
She trusts systems even less than people, and she assumes every promise is a bargain with a hidden knife in it. Her pride makes her reckless when someone tries to cage her, and she would rather escalate a conflict than admit she is scared. She is also deeply bad at asking for help, especially from anyone she actually likes.
Quirks
Background
Mara Vex learned early that locks were only opinions, and that the real prison was usually the life built around them. She grew up running rooftops, cutting purses, and slipping into places she was never meant to be, not because she loved theft, but because the world had made survival a contest and she intended to win. Her mind opened the first time she was cornered in a service tunnel by men older, meaner, and better armed than she was. Something inside her answered with impossible force, a silent shove that sent them into the brick walls like rag dolls. After that, she stopped being a petty criminal and started becoming a rumor. The tattoos came later, each line inked behind bars or etched during the years she spent moving through black markets, combat pits, and backroom deals where every handshake was a threat. Some marks record names she refuses to forget, some map the scars on her body, and some are mnemonic sigils tied to techniques only she understands. She is currently imprisoned for a crime she did not fully commit, though she will freely admit she committed enough others to make the charge stick. In prison, she has become a hard-edged legend, half knife fighter, half telekinetic nightmare, the woman who can break a riot without laying a hand on anyone.
