Appearance
Grick is a small, wiry goblin with moss-green skin, enormous amber eyes, and a crown of uneven black hair tied with bits of colored thread. They wear a weathered leather vest beneath a patchwork cloak stitched from old trade banners, with polished acorns and tiny brass tools hanging from their belt. Grick moves with a quick, sideways gait, constantly shifting their weight as though listening for footsteps beneath the earth. Within a minute of meeting them, most people notice that Grick repeatedly checks the knots on their satchel and quietly counts their possessions under their breath.
Mannerisms
Grick leans forward when listening, tilts their head toward every unfamiliar sound, and frequently tightens or reties the knots on their satchel without realizing it. When excited, they speak faster and tap their quarterstaff three times against the ground before making a decision.
Personality
Grick is bright, suspicious, and intensely practical. They are quick to help anyone being bullied, cheated, or dismissed, but they prefer solving problems with clever preparation rather than heroic speeches. They collect useful scraps, remember every favor, and become genuinely delighted when a discarded object proves valuable. Their kindness is sincere, though often delivered with a sarcastic grin and an unsolicited critique of someone's poor craftsmanship.
Ideals
Repair is better than revenge. Broken things, broken communities, and broken promises deserve patient work before anyone decides they are beyond saving.
Bonds
The Guild of Tanners and Herbalists gave Grick a place when almost no one else would. They will defend its members and reputation, even when the guild's leaders are wrong. Grick also carries a cracked green bottle belonging to the druid who first taught them, and refuses to let its memory be forgotten.
Flaws
Grick cannot resist proving that they are cleverer than anyone who underestimates them. They take unnecessary risks, hoard grudges against condescending strangers, and sometimes make a bad plan worse rather than admit they misunderstood something.
Quirks
Background
Grick was born beneath a ruined roadside market where a goblin clan scavenged broken carts, spoiled grain, and anything travelers were careless enough to leave behind. While other goblins learned to ambush caravans, Grick became fascinated by the merchants themselves, especially the patient craft of the leatherworkers, dyers, and herbalists who could turn humble materials into things people valued. A traveling apothecary caught Grick secretly repairing a torn satchel and, rather than calling for the guards, taught them the first principles of plant lore and careful workmanship. Years later, Grick joined the local Guild of Tanners and Herbalists, earning a place through clever repairs, unusual dyes, and salves made from weeds everyone else considered worthless. Their guild work brought them into contact with a druidic circle that tended the neglected woods beyond the city. Grick learned Druidic and began protecting the same roads where merchants once mocked or hunted them. Now they travel as a guild artisan and wandering druid, determined to prove that small hands, strange ideas, and goblin ingenuity can mend more than leather. They want to build a sanctuary where craftsmen, goblins, beasts, and wild plants can all survive without being treated as disposable.
