Appearance
A compact forest gnome woman with copper-brown skin, sharp hazel eyes, and dark russet hair braided close to her scalp for field work. Her pointed ears are decorated with small bronze rings, and a pale scar crosses her left eyebrow. She wears weathered scale mail over a green wool tunic, a red campaign scarf, and a patched cloak patterned with tiny stitched pine needles. Her equipment is carefully sized for her small frame, with a recurved shortbow and a spear that doubles as a walking staff.
Mannerisms
Brizkhan taps two fingers against her thumb while thinking, like silently counting a marching cadence. She checks exits whenever she enters a room, knots her scarf before speaking seriously, and addresses animals in a formal military tone.
Personality
Brizkhan is brisk, observant, and openly kind beneath a layer of military directness. She gives practical help before offering sympathy, remembers the names of stable hands and cooks, and dislikes grand speeches unless they are followed by useful action. She is intensely curious about old roads, abandoned fortifications, animal tracks, and the habits of people who think they are difficult to notice.
Ideals
No one is expendable. A person who is small, frightened, or overlooked deserves protection precisely because armies and powerful people are most likely to ignore them.
Bonds
The survivors and families of her old company are her responsibility, especially the civilians she led through the drainage tunnel. She will risk almost anything to recover the company's stolen signal horn and return it to their memorial.
Flaws
She treats every disagreement like a field command decision and becomes reckless when someone questions her competence. Brizkhan also has a habit of counting casualties aloud under her breath, even when nobody has died.
Quirks
Background
Brizkhan Tekk was raised among the root-cellars and lantern workshops of a forest gnome settlement built around an old watch road. She learned early that small hands were useful for delicate work, but her sharp eyes and restless curiosity drew her toward the border patrols. When a regional militia began recruiting scouts, Brizkhan joined despite being laughed at for her size. She became the soldier who could slip under a wagon, read a trail through trampled fern, and return with a full report before the larger patrol had finished arguing over the map. Her company was shattered during a night evacuation when raiders used captured signal horns to lure the soldiers away from a refugee column. Brizkhan survived by guiding a handful of civilians through an abandoned drainage tunnel, but her commanding officer and many comrades were lost. She still carries the company's red scarf and keeps its battered gaming set wrapped in oilcloth. Now she travels as a ranger, hunting raiders, rescuing stragglers, and watching roads that official armies have forgotten. She claims she is looking for the people who stole those signal horns. In truth, she is also trying to prove that the lives saved in that tunnel mattered as much as the names engraved on the company's memorial stone.
