Appearance
Bjorn stands six feet tall, broad-shouldered, with straight blond hair and warm green eyes. His smith's apron is patched carefully at the waist, while his traveling coat hangs a little short at the wrists. He keeps his sword polished almost obsessively, and his strong jaw shifts to one side when he chews. His smile is rare, but when it comes, it shows a small gap between his front teeth. A few pieces of cold iron are usually tucked into his belt or pack, unless he is with his Jotunn lover.
Mannerisms
He rubs the pad of his thumb along the spine of a blade while listening, as if checking its finish. When he has nothing to say, he squares small objects on the table. He eats slowly and keeps his jaw set, even when amused.
Personality
Quiet and steady, Bjorn prefers the company of a forge, a workbench, or a clear trail to a crowded room. He respects patience, practical skill, and people who keep their promises. His humor is dry, and his warmth usually shows through small acts of repair rather than kind words.
Ideals
Craftsmanship. A thing made with care should be judged by its balance and usefulness, not by the hands or blood that made it. He believes a well-made blade can outlast a bad reputation.
Bonds
His older brother and younger cousins are the family he chose to stand by, even when he cannot understand their choices. He keeps the first wooden knife he ever carved, and believes the guild master who gave him a place at the forge deserves repayment. His Jotunn lover is a secret he refuses to turn into a story for strangers.
Flaws
He hides inconvenient truths until drink or exhaustion gets the better of him, and treats his affairs as nobody else's business even when they create trouble for people around him. He can be dismissive of his younger cousin's courage and his changeling cousin's nature. Beneath his stoicism is a real fear that his Jotunn heritage could make him lose control of who he is.
Quirks
Background
Bjorn Kholson remembers the cold timberline, the weight of a whittling knife, and the older brother who kept him and their younger cousins alive after their father left. He learned to shape wood before he could properly swing a sword. When he grew old enough to leave, he found work at a forge, first making nails and hinges, then blades. He took to swords with an intensity that unsettled his fellow smiths. A guild master recognized his skill, sponsored his membership, and taught him that a weapon's balance could be as carefully crafted as a fine chisel's edge. He eventually carried his work into the wild, where his forged blades helped him become a practiced hunter of trolls and great worms. Years later, looking for an explanation for his father's absence, Bjorn uncovered the truth: his mother was Jotunn, and sometimes took the form of a moose. He kept that discovery private until a night of drink and family company loosened his tongue. He still carries cold iron out of wary habit, though he sets it aside around his Jotunn lover. Now he travels with his berserker brother, hoping for old treasures, quiet roads, and distance from the complications of his love life. He is fond of his newly met adventuring companion, but distrusts his troll-changeling cousin and worries that his own heritage could pull him toward the same strange fate.
