Appearance
Malice is a tall, elegant drow woman with dark violet skin, silver-white hair cut to her jaw, and pale lavender eyes that rarely blink. Fine spiderweb tattoos trace her throat and left cheek, while a narrow scar circles her right wrist, left by the ceremonial chain of her former house. She wears studded leather armor beneath layered crimson, plum, and saffron robes, arranged like a surface-world samurai's formal garb. Two curved blades rest at her hip, their scabbards lacquered black and marked with tiny silver spiders. Her movements are quiet, precise, and unnervingly graceful.
Mannerisms
Malice bows slightly before drawing either blade, as though greeting an honored opponent. She speaks in a low, measured voice and pauses before saying the name of any living person, as if deciding whether that name deserves to survive.
Personality
Controlled, observant, and intensely devout. Malice is patient in conversation and merciless in combat, treating every exchange as a test of leverage. She admires discipline, but only when discipline serves deception. Around spiders, she becomes almost gentle, speaking to them as fellow servants rather than animals.
Ideals
Purpose. A blade has no honor of its own. It has only the will of the hand that guides it, and Malice exists to be the hand of Lolth.
Bonds
Lolth is the only bond Malice acknowledges. She carries a broken silver signet of House Travra, not as a keepsake, but as a promise that one day she will return and erase the house from the web of history.
Flaws
Malice cannot accept kindness without suspecting manipulation, and she often creates betrayal where none exists. She believes mercy is an insult to the one receiving it. Her devotion to Lolth is so complete that she will obey an omen she only imagines, even when doing so endangers an otherwise sensible plan.
Quirks
Background
Malice was born Aurelia of House Travra, a minor but ambitious drow noble whose family hoped she would rise through the ranks of Lolth's priesthood. From childhood, she was taught that obedience was sacred, cruelty was practical, and affection was merely another chain. She learned the rituals of sacrifice, the etiquette of venom, and the proper prayers to whisper into a spider's web. Yet she proved more attentive to weapons than scripture. Where other acolytes sought omens, Aurelia studied the balance of a blade and the weakness beneath a rival's armor. Her transformation began during a temple trial in which several aspiring priestesses were ordered to fight beneath a canopy of living spiders. Aurelia expected to win through speed and discipline. Instead, the spiders ignored the victor and descended upon her, covering her hands, face, and ceremonial robes without biting. The priestesses called it a sign. Lolth had not chosen another priestess. She had chosen a blade. Aurelia abandoned House Travra, surrendered her birth name, and took the name Malice as a vow rather than an identity. On the surface, she adopted the discipline and appearance of samurai warriors, reshaping their honor into the Way of the Black Widow, a code that praises treachery, hidden weapons, venom, pain, and victory without fairness. She serves no house, commander, or companion now. She serves the spider who made her useful.
