Appearance
A tall, fine-boned elf with muted bronze skin, straight black hair braided with small copper rings, and pale green eyes that seem brighter near open flame. Their clothing is practical but meticulously layered, with a dark blue scholar's coat over fitted traveling garments. A faint pattern of bronze scales appears along the backs of their hands when their sorcery intensifies. They carry themselves with an unconscious, commanding stillness, often standing closer to others than expected while adjusting the copper rings in their hair.
Mannerisms
Tavik speaks in precise, carefully separated sentences and often steps within arm's reach of a conversational partner without noticing. While thinking, they rotate the copper rings in their hair one by one. When casting, they count under their breath in Draconic, then abruptly stop just before the spell takes effect.
Personality
Tavik is exacting, observant, and quietly intense. They prefer questions to declarations, but once they reach a conclusion they defend it with startling force. They are kinder than they appear, especially toward apprentices, frightened villagers, and anyone whose knowledge has been dismissed by a powerful institution.
Ideals
Knowledge is a shelter. The truth may wound, but ignorance leaves people defenseless against those who would use them.
Bonds
The cedar archive was destroyed by a fire that left no ash, and Tavik has sworn to recover every lost text and identify the force that erased it.
Flaws
I treat every mystery as an obligation, even when solving it will put innocent people at risk. I also become cold and dismissive when someone challenges a conclusion I have spent years building.
Quirks
Background
Tavik Orzhet was born in an elven archive built beneath the roots of an ancient cedar, where generations of sages preserved histories that no living kingdom remembered. Tavik showed little promise as a traditional scholar. Their handwriting was cramped, their memory unreliable, and their voice carried no natural authority. What they did possess was an unsettling sensitivity to hidden power. Old draconic inscriptions made their teeth ache. Sealed relics whispered in dreams. By adulthood, Tavik had learned that the magic moving through their blood was not inherited from a noble dragon line, but awakened when they accidentally translated a fragment of a dead wyrm's final confession.
“Tavik showed little promise as a traditional scholar.”
