Appearance
Adalvani is a tall, broad-shouldered aasimar with warm bronze skin, silver-white hair worn close at the sides, and luminous amber eyes. His holy armor is polished steel overlaid with gold filigree depicting sunbursts and marching standards. A weathered royal blue sash is always tied beneath his breastplate, its fabric worn thin where his gauntlet repeatedly grips it during moments of decision. He speaks with a measured commander's voice. When he eats, he cuts food into exact portions before taking a bite, and when he laughs, the corners of his mouth pull wide enough to reveal a slightly prominent canine tooth on the left side.
Mannerisms
He addresses companions by rank or formal title until they have earned familiarity. Before issuing an important order, he touches the worn section of his blue sash and silently counts three breaths. He never sits with his back to a door, and he inspects the edges of his holy armor each night before sleeping.
Personality
Adalvani is calm, deliberate, and intensely protective. He listens to frightened people with the same concentration he gives to enemy generals, because he considers fear useful information rather than a moral failure. He has a dry, understated humor and an old soldier's habit of praising competence wherever he finds it. Beneath his formal bearing is a fatherly warmth that appears most clearly when repairing armor, teaching tactics, or sharing the last portion of a meal.
Ideals
Duty. A commander exists to stand between the innocent and the darkness. Authority is not a privilege to be enjoyed, but a burden to be carried without complaint.
Bonds
The aasimar crown entrusted him with the lives of its people, and Adalvani believes that trust is a sacred oath. He carries the tattered blue sash of the first regiment he commanded, and he will risk everything to recover the regiment's lost banner, now held somewhere beyond enemy lines. He is also devoted to the ordinary soldiers who followed him, especially those who returned home carrying burdens no victory parade could hide.
Flaws
He believes that any problem can be solved by discipline, preparation, and a clear chain of command. He is slow to forgive insubordination, even when it comes from someone who is morally right. When faced with an impossible choice, he may sacrifice his own humanity to preserve order, then insist afterward that the sacrifice was necessary.

Background
Adalvani Hevas was born beneath the white banners of the aasimar crown, in a fortress where every child of the royal houses learned the names of the dead before learning the names of the living. His celestial heritage manifested as a calm radiance rather than a dramatic miracle, and the court interpreted that restraint as a sign of judgment. He entered the army young, served as a standard-bearer, and rose through the ranks because he could hold a line without cruelty and give an order without wasting a life. By middle age, he had become Royal General, commander of armies that guarded the borderlands against fiends, raiders, and ambitious kings who mistook mercy for weakness.
