Appearance
Gemini Jones is a slender air genasi with dusky blue-gray skin, silver-white hair that constantly drifts as though underwater, and bright violet eyes threaded with tiny sparks of static. Their voice carries a faint echo, and loose papers, ribbons, and candle flames seem to lean toward them when they speak. Gemini dresses in a charcoal leather coat over a deep teal shirt, with colorful scarves concealing pockets, lockpicks, and small musical charms.
Mannerisms
Gemini punctuates important statements by flicking a coin into the air and catching it without looking. They lean toward people when listening, but drift backward when questioned. Their laughter often arrives a heartbeat before the joke, and their hair lifts whenever they are excited or lying.
Personality
Gemini is quick-witted, theatrically confident, and endlessly curious. They treat every conversation as a performance, every locked door as an invitation, and every dangerous situation as an opportunity to improvise. Beneath the jokes is a deeply observant survivor who notices exits, hidden hands, and changes in tone before most people realize anything is wrong.
Ideals
Freedom. No tyrant, syndicate, institution, or prophecy has the right to decide what another person must become. Every lock should have a key, and every person should have a choice.
Bonds
Gemini carries a stolen ledger that could expose a powerful criminal network. They intend to use it to free the people who were trapped by the scheme, even if they have to bargain with thieves, nobles, and monsters to do it.
Flaws
Gemini cannot resist a clever theft, even when leaving the object alone would be safer. They lie reflexively when frightened, and they often mistake being entertaining for being trusted.
Quirks
Background
Gemini Jones was born during a storm that tore three roofs from the floating district of their home city. Their genie-blooded mother called the event a blessing. The city watch called it an omen. Gemini grew up learning that both descriptions could be useful, depending on who was listening. They became a street performer, first juggling knives and later turning whispered rumors into catchy songs. Their music opened doors, distracted guards, and made wealthy patrons laugh while their companions relieved those patrons of burdensome valuables. The work was never supposed to become serious crime, but Gemini joined a crew that specialized in stealing secrets rather than jewels. Their final job went wrong when Gemini discovered that the crew's employer intended to sell an entire neighborhood into indentured servitude. Gemini betrayed the employer, sabotaged the exchange with a thunderous performance, and vanished with the incriminating ledger. Now both the criminal syndicate and several respectable officials want the ledger back. Gemini travels from town to town as a bard, using charm, misdirection, and elemental magic to stay ahead of everyone who wants them silenced. They are not interested in being a hero, but they refuse to let anyone else decide who gets to own the truth.
