Appearance
A lean wood elf with weathered olive skin, silver-green eyes, and long dark hair tied back with a strip of red cloth. They favor supple leather armor under a hooded dark cloak, with a rapier at the hip, a shortbow slung over one shoulder, and a ring of tiny lockpicks tucked into their belt. Their fingers are ink-stained from sketching building layouts and alley maps, and they always seem to be listening for footsteps that no one else can hear.
Mannerisms
Kaelthas speaks softly and pauses before answering, as if measuring the seams in a conversation. They tap two fingers against any nearby surface when thinking, and their eyes drift automatically to exits, windows, and lock mechanisms. When amused, they smile without showing teeth.
Personality
Patient, observant, and dryly amused, Kaelthas treats every room like a puzzle and every person like a story worth decoding. They rarely raise their voice, but they are quick to praise competence and even quicker to mock arrogance. Beneath the wit is a quiet tenderness for anyone ignored by the powerful, and they will take great risks for the frightened and overlooked.
Ideals
Freedom. No ruler, guild, or old law should own a person’s choices. Kaelthas believes every life should have room to change, and every chain should have a weak link waiting to be found.
Bonds
Kaelthas owes their freedom to a masked fence named Sella, who smuggled them out of a city watch cell and taught them that every network is built on favors. They protect a small ledger of names and debts taken from a corrupt magistrate, and they will not rest until every person in that book is safe or settled. They still send coin to the shrine where an elderly human priest once sheltered them during their first winter away from home.
Flaws
Kaelthas cannot resist a locked door, a sealed chest, or a secret that is obviously meant to stay hidden. When cornered emotionally, they turn sly and evasive instead of speaking plainly, which makes allies feel shut out. They also have a dangerous habit of assuming they can talk or slip their way out of any problem, even when a direct answer would serve them better.
Quirks
Background
Kaelthas Vaelor was born beneath boughs older than most kingdoms, in a wood elf enclave that prized patience, memory, and the slow shaping of living things. Kaelthas, however, was always drawn to doors instead of trees, to hidden hinges, false walls, and the spaces between what people said and what they meant. When a human trade road cut near the forest, Kaelthas began slipping into waystations and counting houses, first out of curiosity, then to learn how the wider world moved. He discovered that the quickest way to understand a city was to steal nothing at all, only to leave behind a calling card and an unanswered question.
