Appearance
Sahsha bint Sufan is a lean, weather-hardened human woman with copper-red hair worn in two tight braids beneath a fur-lined hood. Freckles cross her nose and cheeks, and her amber-brown eyes are constantly measuring distance, wind, and escape routes. She wears battered scale mail beneath layered gray wool, with a blue-and-silver Lord's Alliance badge sewn inside her cloak rather than displayed openly. A plain wooden club hangs at her left hip, while a narrow scimitar rests at her right, both marked with small tally cuts for creatures she has tracked and survived.
Mannerisms
Sahsha speaks softly, often pausing to listen before answering. She points with two fingers instead of one, keeps her back near a wall, and automatically checks the knots on other people's packs when she is worried about them.
Personality
Quietly attentive and dryly funny, Sahsha notices small discomforts before anyone else does and fixes them without asking. She is patient with frightened civilians, suspicious of nobles who have never slept outdoors, and unexpectedly gentle with injured animals. She dislikes speeches, prefers practical promises, and remembers every person she has guided safely through a storm.
Ideals
Preparation. The wilderness is not cruel, it is honest. People die because they mistake hope for a plan, and I will give them the plan.
Bonds
The Lord's Alliance gave my family food, shelter, and a future. I will not let its people become names on a casualty list, even when the orders are foolish or the odds are cruel.
Flaws
I treat every unexplained sound as a threat and every confident plan as an invitation to find its hidden failure. When someone under my protection is hurt, I become reckless, vindictive, and almost impossible to command.
Quirks
Background
Sahsha was born in a small trading settlement that survived by knowing exactly when to close its doors. Her mother kept ledgers for passing caravans, while her father served as a trail sergeant for the Lord's Alliance. From him she learned that a map was only useful if it accounted for fear, hunger, and the things that moved when the snow went quiet. She became a pathfinder before she became a soldier, leading supply parties through whiteouts and learning to read the difference between wolf tracks, starving wolf tracks, and something that wanted travelers to think it was a wolf. During a winter escort near the Reghed Glacier, Sahsha found an abandoned camp whose occupants had been dragged beneath the ice. She tracked the killer for three days, killed it with a club when her sword froze in its sheath, and returned with a survivor who had been overlooked beneath a collapsed sled. The Lord's Alliance promoted her and began assigning her the work no one wanted named in official reports, guiding expeditions, investigating disappearances, and hunting monsters that used the Dale's storms as cover. She has heard rumors of an old order called the Winter Walkers, hunters who learn to move with the cold instead of merely enduring it. Sahsha intends to earn that mantle, but she suspects the ice will demand a price before it accepts her.
