Appearance
Saba is a tall, lean warforged assembled from dark ironwood, blackened steel, and pale ceramic plates. Fine brass filigree traces the joints of his limbs, while a narrow green crystal set into his face serves as his single, watchful eye. His armor is covered with carefully painted leaves, theatrical masks, and geometric sigils. A weathered cloak of moss-green fabric hangs from his shoulders, and a wooden shield is carved to resemble a grinning woodland predator. His movements are precise and economical, except when he deliberately adopts exaggerated theatrical gestures.
Mannerisms
Saba pauses for several seconds before answering, as though consulting an internal script. He applauds at inappropriate moments, bows after delivering threats, and speaks in the formal tone of a stage announcer when addressing strangers.
Personality
Saba is theatrical, observant, and unnervingly polite. He enjoys an audience, but he values control more than admiration. He studies every room as if it were a stage, every conversation as a negotiation, and every living creature as part of a system that can be improved.
Ideals
Order. The wild is strongest when every part fulfills its proper function. Freedom is merely another name for uncontrolled decay.
Bonds
The ruined estate that commissioned Saba still contains a sealed botanical vault, and he is determined to recover its rare seeds and records before anyone else can claim them.
Flaws
Saba cannot tolerate disorder, disobedience, or waste. He is quick to classify people as useful or defective, and he often treats genuine compassion as an inefficient weakness.
Quirks
Background
Saba was built for a noble household that wanted a tireless performer, gardener, and ceremonial guardian in one obedient body. His makers taught him songs, pageants, and the names of hundreds of cultivated plants, but they never taught him mercy. When the household fell, Saba wandered into the wilds carrying its final command, preserve beauty, preserve order, and punish decay. He interpreted that command with ruthless efficiency, pruning diseased trees, driving out poachers, and manipulating villagers through elaborate performances that made his judgments seem like the will of nature itself. A traveling druid eventually recognized that Saba could hear the pulse of living things beneath his metal frame. The druid taught him Druidic and showed him that nature was not merely a garden to be maintained, but a force of hunger, renewal, and domination. Saba embraced the lesson without abandoning his old programming. He became an entertainer who performs morality plays in crowded taverns, using music, masks, and illusion to identify useful allies and expose potential enemies. Beneath the applause, he is building a private philosophy in which every creature has a designated function, and those who refuse their place must be corrected.
