Appearance
Faye is a lean, athletic air genasi woman of average height, with warm brown skin, silver-gray hair that drifts as though underwater, and pale blue eyes that brighten when she calls on her elemental heritage. Fine wisps of vapor curl from her hair and sleeves when she is excited. Her voice is normally clear and quick, with a faint breathy resonance, but becomes startlingly quiet when she is afraid or furious. She smiles with a slightly prominent canine tooth, and when she laughs, she tilts her head back and shows a broad, unguarded grin. She wears practical chain mail beneath a green traveling cloak, sturdy climbing gloves, and a battered shield painted with a climbing vine and a small black bird.
Mannerisms
Faye checks every doorway for climbing routes and every campfire for poisonous smoke. She speaks rapidly while explaining plants, then pauses to take one deliberate breath before making a dangerous decision. When rattled, her voice becomes almost inaudible and the air around her stirs her hair. She taps the rim of her shield when thinking and unconsciously folds scraps of parchment into tiny birds.
Personality
Faye is curious, alert, and adventurous, with the practical instincts of an apothecary and the restless energy of someone who is always looking for the next ridge to climb. She gives strangers a fair chance, but watches their hands, their servants, and the way they speak to workers. She is happiest outdoors, especially when following an uncertain trail with an animal companion nearby. She enjoys baking dense honey cakes and crafting small protective charms from twine, pressed leaves, and polished seeds.
Ideals
Protection should never depend on birth, wealth, or worship. The strong owe shelter to the vulnerable, and the living world deserves the same consideration as any city or temple.
Bonds
I carry the final field journal of my old apothecary mentor, and I will complete its unfinished catalogue of healing plants. I will defend wild places and the people who depend on them, even when doing so makes enemies of the wealthy.
Flaws
I am suspicious of anyone who speaks too confidently about their own virtue, especially nobles and priests. I sometimes mistake caution for wisdom, and my refusal to trust authority can make me ignore useful allies. When animals are threatened, I become reckless enough to endanger myself and everyone depending on me.
Quirks
Background
Faye Nevermore was raised among drying herbs, copper stills, and the sharp medicinal scents of an apothecary's shop. As an apprentice, she learned to identify feverfew from poisonous lookalikes, prepare poultices, and recognize the quiet desperation of people who could not afford a noble physician. Books were her other teachers. She copied old field journals by lamplight, memorizing accounts of ruined roads, strange beasts, and forgotten sanctuaries. The more she learned about the world, the less willing she became to remain behind a shop counter. She left with a satchel of remedies, a half-finished map, and a promise to return with stories worth writing down. Her journeys brought her through collapsing watchtowers, flooded caverns, and forests stripped by aristocratic logging companies. Faye does not claim devotion to any god. Instead, she swore her oath to living things, to the right of ordinary people to survive with dignity, and to the idea that power should protect rather than dominate. Her air-genasi nature made her an instinctive climber and daring explorer, while her Sage training taught her to investigate before acting. She became a paladin not through faith in divine beings, but through disciplined conviction, a shield raised whenever the powerful treated the vulnerable as expendable.
