Appearance
Rinzu is a lean, sharp-featured half-elf with bronze skin, gray-green eyes, and shoulder-length black hair usually tied back with a strip of faded blue cloth. His pointed ears are partly hidden beneath his hair, and a thin scar crosses his left eyebrow. He wears well-maintained brown leather armor beneath a weathered dark-gray cloak, with a rapier at his hip, two daggers concealed at his belt, and a shortbow slung across his back. His clothing is practical but carefully arranged, reflecting both his years on the street and his disciplined guild training.
Mannerisms
Rinzu checks every doorway, window, and ceiling beam before sitting down. He speaks quietly and precisely, rarely using more words than necessary. When thinking, he rolls a copper coin across his knuckles, and when irritated, his left ear twitches before his expression changes.
Personality
Rinzu is observant, restrained, and practical. He notices small details that others overlook, remembers names and debts with unsettling accuracy, and prefers a clear plan to a heroic impulse. Beneath his guarded manner is a strong protective instinct for laborers, street children, and anyone ignored by the wealthy. He is a renowned local adventurer because he approaches danger with preparation, patience, and an almost stubborn refusal to abandon the people who depend on him.
Ideals
Order. The streets taught Rinzu that chaos always favors the cruelest person present. Rules should protect the vulnerable, and when they fail to do so, they must be enforced or replaced with better ones.
Bonds
Greyharbor is the only home Rinzu has ever known, and he protects its overlooked people whenever he can. He carries his father's old iron nail as a keepsake and intends to uncover the truth about his missing mother, even if the answer is painful. He also feels responsible for the street children who still sleep beneath the eastern bridge.
Flaws
Rinzu has difficulty accepting charity and assumes that kindness usually hides a demand. He is slow to trust anyone with authority, especially nobles, guards, and guild officials. When frightened or uncertain, he becomes rigidly rule-bound and may value procedure over compassion.
Quirks
Background
Rinzu was born and raised in Greyharbor, a crowded river town where merchant towers stood above alleys packed with fishermen, laborers, beggars, and thieves. His father, Tovan, was a human peasant who hauled grain and repaired nets for a living. He raised Rinzu alone, though he never spoke of Rinzu's mother, and Rinzu has never been certain whether she truly existed, died before his memories began, or simply chose to leave. Tovan taught him simple laws of decency, the value of keeping one's word, and how to recognize the difference between hunger-driven crime and cruelty for its own sake. He died of fever shortly before Rinzu reached adulthood, leaving his son with no home but the streets.
