Appearance
Jax is a young human man in his early twenties with a lean, wiry build shaped by recent training and the lingering softness of youth. His pale skin bears a few faint scars, including one across his knuckles and another along his jawline. He has sharp features, high cheekbones, a straight nose, and dark, intelligent brown eyes that remain constantly observant. His dark brown hair has grown out from its former military cut into a tousled mess that falls just past his ears. Light stubble shadows his jaw. In casual settings, he wears a faded black band T-shirt beneath a worn gray hoodie, dark slim-fit jeans, and scuffed black combat boots. During training, he wears a fitted black athletic uniform and a simple tactical harness for carrying weapons and tools. He is not wearing armor.
Mannerisms
Jax rolls his shoulders before a confrontation, checks exits without appearing to look, and taps two fingers against his thigh while thinking. He often answers dangerous questions with a dry joke, then watches the other person's reaction more carefully than their words.
Personality
Jax is intelligent, quick-witted, and constantly alert. He studies social hierarchies the same way he studies combat tactics, looking for pressure points, escape routes, and the difference between authority and competence. His ambition is intense but controlled, driven by a need to prove that he belongs in rooms that were never built for people like him. He is loyal once loyalty has been demonstrated through action, but he has no patience for blind devotion. His dry, self-deprecating humor appears most often when he is frightened or outmatched.
Ideals
Competence is freedom. No one should have the power to decide another person's worth simply because they control the resources, the weapons, or the rules.
Bonds
I owe my life to the handful of recruits who covered for me when the program's officers decided I was expendable. I will find them, protect them, and expose the people who treated us as disposable equipment.
Flaws
I assume every offer has a hidden cost, and I can become cold or manipulative when I feel cornered. I would rather risk a reckless plan than admit that someone else has earned the right to protect me.
Quirks
Background
Jax grew up on the neglected edges of Atrix Isle's corporate zones, where the towers were bright enough to cast shadows over entire neighborhoods. His family moved between warehouse districts, maintenance blocks, and cheap rented rooms, and Jax learned early that every favor had a price. He worked loading freight, repairing industrial systems, and cleaning facilities after corporate security drills. He became skilled at noticing what people did not say, which supervisors were desperate, which guards were cruel, and which doors were left unlocked because someone assumed nobody from his neighborhood would dare use them. The Atrix Isle Civil Defense Corps offered him a uniform, regular meals, and a chance to become something other than disposable labor. Jax proved unusually capable with physical drills, tactical analysis, and improvised problem solving. He was not the strongest recruit, but he was often the one who understood the exercise before anyone else did. His intelligence and ambition eventually drew him into an experimental combat training program that combined conventional weapons work with controlled arcane phenomena. The program left him with a dangerous talent for channeling force through a weapon and a permanent distrust of the officers who treated recruits as test data. Now a seventh-level fighter and Eldritch Knight, Jax trains in a matte-black room beneath the compound, learning to make every movement efficient, every spell deliberate, and every alliance worth the risk.
