Appearance
A stocky hill dwarf with a braided copper beard, ink-stained fingers, and a calm, hearth-lit gaze. She wears scale mail polished to a muted shine, a practical shield marked with a white sunburst, and a holy symbol of a kindly god hung over layers of travel-worn vestments. Her beard is threaded with tiny charms, prayer beads, and one brass spoon she insists is for emergency soup.
Mannerisms
She touches two fingers to her holy symbol before speaking, even in conversation. When thinking, she hums old temple harmonies under her breath and unconsciously sizes up everyone in the room as if checking for injuries.
Personality
Patient, matter-of-fact, and unexpectedly warm, Brunna speaks like a carpenter measuring a beam, careful and exact. She listens more than she talks, but when she does speak, her words are gentle and difficult to ignore. In crisis she becomes fiercely practical, tying wounds, assigning tasks, and reciting prayers as naturally as breathing.
Ideals
Mercy, every life has value, and the strong exist to shelter the weak rather than dominate them.
Bonds
She carries a soot-blackened prayer book rescued from her ruined shrine, and she has vowed to rebuild the sanctuary stone by stone if it takes the rest of her life.
Flaws
She can be so devoted to helping the wounded that she neglects immediate danger, assuming mercy will solve what tactics should. She also struggles to let a wrong go unanswered, especially when someone mocks the weak or desecrates a sacred place.

Background
Brunna Stonehymn was raised beneath the mountain bells of a temple built into an old quarry, where the priests taught that faith is less a roar than a steady hand on a fevered brow. She spent her youth copying hymns, sweeping ash from the altar, and carrying water to miners who came back broken in body and spirit. The first time she felt the divine spark answer her prayer was not in a grand sermon, but when she placed her palm on a child's shaking chest and the fever broke before dawn. After that, she never doubted that mercy could be a craft, learned through discipline, patience, and a willingness to stand between the helpless and the dark. When raiders sacked a nearby hamlet and the local shrine was left in smoking ruins, Brunna took up a shield and mace beside the surviving villagers. She discovered that her god's grace moved through her as readily in battle as in the infirmary, wrapping allies in a warmth that felt like a hearth against winter. Now she travels from road to road with a satchel of prayers, herbs, and old vows, determined to rebuild what cruelty tears down. She believes every wound has a story and every soul deserves the chance to finish telling it.
