21 featuresBonus action
- Cunning ActionLevel 2
Your agility lets you move and act with remarkable speed. You can take a bonus action on each of your turns in combat to Dash, Disengage, or Hide.
- Master of TacticsLevel 3
You can use the Help action as a bonus action, and when you do, the creature you aid can use your Help on an attack against a creature within 30 feet of you, if it can see or hear you.
Reaction
- Uncanny DodgeLevel 5
Starting at 5th level, you can move away from a foe without exposing yourself to their full counterattack. When a creature hits you with an attack, you can use your reaction to halve the attack's damage against you.
Always on
- ExpertiseLevel 1
You have a pool of expertise in skills and tools. At 1st level you gained expertise in two of your proficiencies, and at 6th level you gained it in two more. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for the chosen proficiencies.
- Thieves' CantLevel 1
You know thieves' cant, a secret mix of dialect, jargon, and code that lets you hide messages in normal speech. You also gain proficiency in one of the following skills of your choice: Deception, Insight, Intimidation, or Persuasion. At higher levels, you can glean more from conversations and have a way with criminal circles.
- Mastermind ArchetypeLevel 3
Choose an archetype that reflects your technique. As a Mastermind, you gain proficiency with disguise kits and forgery kits, and you learn two additional languages.
- Master of IntrigueLevel 3
Your cunning plans make you an asset to any criminal network. You gain proficiency with the disguise kit and forgery kit, and you learn two languages of your choice.
- Ability Score ImprovementLevel 4
When you reach 4th level, you can improve one ability score by 2, or two ability scores by 1 each, or take a feat. You gain the same again at 8th, 10th, and 12th level.
- Sneak AttackLevel 5
Beginning at 5th level, your attack deals extra damage once per turn when you have advantage on the attack roll, or when an enemy of the target is within 5 feet of it and you do not have disadvantage. At 14th level, this extra damage is 7d6.
- ExpertiseLevel 6
At 6th level, choose two more proficiencies, or one more proficiency and thieves' tools, in which you gain expertise.
- EvasionLevel 7
Starting at 7th level, you instinctively dodge out of the way of certain area effects, such as a red dragon's fiery breath or a lightning bolt spell. When subjected to an effect that allows a Dexterity saving throw for half damage, you take no damage on a success and only half damage on a failure.
- BlindsenseLevel 14
You have an almost supernatural ability to read the world around you. You gain a +5 bonus to your passive Wisdom (Perception) score and cannot be surprised while you are conscious.
- Reliable TalentLevel 11
You have refined luck itself into a weapon. When you make an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you can treat a d20 roll of 9 or lower as a 10. Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
- Stroke of LuckLevel 20
You can cause a missed attack to turn aside at the perfect moment. When you make an attack roll and miss, you can turn the miss into a hit. Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Appearance
Kaela is a tall, lean, and muscular tiefling woman with bronze skin, thick spiraling horns, rich crimson eyes, and a confident smirk that rarely leaves her face. Her black synth-leather tactical suit fits close to her body, paired with a cropped jacket trimmed in silver, high laced boots, and a worn holstered sidearm at her hip. A barbed tail moves with fluid precision behind her, and a jeweled, silver-trimmed collar rests at her throat like a statement of ownership she chose for herself rather than one imposed upon her.
Mannerisms
Kaela speaks softly, almost lazily, as though every conversation is already going according to her plan. She tilts her head when listening, smirks at bad news, and taps one claw against her collar when calculating a risk. In tense moments, her tail goes still before she moves, like a predator deciding exactly where to strike.
Personality
Kaela is sharp-witted, tactical, and difficult to rattle. She enjoys leverage, secrets, and the quiet satisfaction of being the smartest person in the room. She can be charming when it serves her, but her warmth is selective, and once she accepts someone as hers, she is ferociously dependable. She despises hypocrisy, especially from officials who hide predation behind paperwork.
Ideals
Power should belong to the competent, not the titled. Order without justice is just a cleaner form of cruelty, and Kaela would rather build a ruthless system that works than kneel to a noble one that lies.
Bonds
She keeps a battered silver charm from her mother hidden inside her jacket, and she never leaves a debt unpaid if the debt was owed to someone she respected. She is quietly protective of the people she considers hers, even if she would rather die than say so aloud.
Flaws
She treats trust like a contract with hidden clauses, and she assumes everyone has an angle unless proven otherwise. When cornered by authority, she becomes reckless, willing to burn a perfect plan just to deny someone the satisfaction of controlling her. She also has a habit of underestimating how much her coldness can wound people who have earned her respect.
Quirks
Background
Kaela was born in the undercity slums of Atrix Isle, where the air tasted of oil, rust, and fear. Her mother taught her how to lift purses without being seen. Her father, a contract killer with a calm voice and dead eyes, taught her how to make a problem disappear permanently. From them she learned the real laws of the world, not the ones carved into courthouse stone, but the ones written in debt, leverage, and blood. As a tiefling, she was always one strange glance away from being blamed for someone else's misery, which only sharpened her instinct to strike first, smile second, and never trust anyone who needed a uniform to feel powerful. By the time she was old enough to choose her own path, Kaela had already decided that loyalty was just another currency, and she intended to spend it carefully. She entered the criminal world as a runner, then a broker, then the person people called when a lock needed opening, a witness needed silencing, or an impossible meeting needed to end in a favorable way. She eventually joined your organization because she saw a ladder, not a family. Yet in the climb, she discovered something she had not expected, a place where her intelligence, adaptability, and nerve were not liabilities but assets. Now she serves as second in command because she understands systems, pressure points, and how to make trouble vanish before it becomes expensive.
“Her mother taught her how to lift purses without being seen.”
