Appearance
Riehlaina is a slender wood elf with russet-brown skin, long ash-blond hair braided with bits of green thread, and alert gray-green eyes that rarely stop measuring the nearest exit. She is slightly shorter than many elves and carries herself with tense, contained energy, as if every room is a cage she is testing for weakness. Within a minute of meeting her, people notice her breathing. It is usually quiet and controlled, but when she is frightened or angry it becomes sharp and rapid through her nose before she forces it back into an even rhythm. Her voice is soft and careful at first, then suddenly fierce when she speaks for someone powerless.
Mannerisms
Riehlaina unconsciously positions herself where she can see doors and windows. She keeps her shield close even when resting, pauses before accepting food, and speaks in a low measured tone until someone threatens another person. When rattled, her breath shortens and her words become clipped, but she deliberately names five things she can see to regain control.
Personality
Riehlaina is quiet, observant, and fiercely compassionate toward the frightened, hungry, and powerless. She dislikes being touched without warning and resists commands phrased as ownership. She has a dry, unexpected sense of humor and a deep fascination with ordinary choices, such as selecting a meal, sleeping beside an open window, or deciding when a conversation is over.
Ideals
Freedom. No living thing should be owned, silenced, or starved into obedience. Hope is not weakness. It is the spark that teaches the trapped to break the door.
Bonds
The small woodland shrine that sheltered her is her true home. She will protect its people, its sacred grove, and any child who arrives at its doors seeking safety.
Flaws
She expects kindness to conceal a demand and freedom to be temporary. When someone tries to control her for her own good, she can become reckless, cruelly suspicious, or impossible to reach. She would rather flee into danger than remain safely confined.
Quirks
Background
Riehlaina was raised in a household where childhood was treated as a privilege she had not earned. Food was withheld as punishment, privacy was considered defiance, and every attempt to ask why was answered with cruelty. The adults who were supposed to protect her taught her that obedience was the only form of safety, then repeatedly proved that obedience could not save her. She learned to sleep lightly, memorize footsteps, and make herself small enough to disappear. What they could not take was the stubborn ember inside her, the conviction that the world had to contain something beyond locked doors and whispered threats. She escaped after following a wind through a cracked window and into the deep woods. There, an isolated shrine tended by gentle acolytes gave her food without conditions and allowed her to choose where she sat, when she slept, and whether she wished to speak. The priests taught her prayers, letters, and the names of plants that heal as readily as those that poison. Riehlaina did not become a devout servant because she was certain the gods were kind. She became one because the shrine offered her the first proof that power could shelter instead of possess. As a druid, she now carries both the discipline of the sanctuary and the wild freedom of the forest. She searches for a life that belongs entirely to her, and she believes hope is not passive comfort but the most dangerous weapon darkness has ever been forced to face.
