Appearance
Sashesh Dadiani has pale, almost translucent skin, a cloud of wild black hair threaded with silver, and a scatter of dark freckles across her nose and shoulders. Her eyes are a deep wine-brown, her canines subtly pointed, and her expression usually carries the cool amusement of someone who has just noticed a secret. She dresses in elegant but carefully repaired clothing, favoring fitted black corsets over ivory blouses, long skirts, polished boots, and a single pearl-buttoned glove that she cleans obsessively. Her posture is graceful until she waits, when she shifts all her weight onto one hip and lightly taps two fingers against her wrist as if listening for a pulse.
Mannerisms
She speaks softly, as if every conversation is taking place in a library. She smooths her cuffs before telling a lie, tilts her head toward anyone whose heartbeat she notices, and addresses dangerous strangers with immaculate courtesy. When irritated, she stops blinking for several seconds at a time.
Personality
Sashesh is gracious, observant, and wickedly dry. She remembers everyone's preferred drink, notices who is pretending confidence, and dislikes shouting because it suggests a lack of imagination. Beneath her cultivated elegance is a fiercely practical survivor who would rather bargain with a monster than depend on a saint.
Ideals
Refinement is self-command. No appetite, patron, family, or ancient monster has the right to decide what I become.
Bonds
She will protect the household servants and young heirs of the Dadiani estate, even though her family believes she died years ago. She also keeps the broken silver clasp from the reliquary that began her pact, convinced it contains the key to undoing it.
Flaws
She treats genuine affection as a trap and will lie reflexively even when honesty would be safer. Her hunger becomes dangerously distracting around the wounded, and she is vain about appearing composed, sometimes refusing practical help rather than let anyone see her disheveled.
Quirks
Background
Sashesh was born among the Dadiani, a minor mercantile family whose fortunes depended on silk, rare perfumes, and the careful cultivation of powerful guests. Her mother taught her that elegance was a form of armor, while her father taught her that every room had a price. Sashesh became an accomplished impersonator and intermediary, moving through salons and private collections in corsets, gloves, and borrowed names. The freckles on her pale skin were considered an imperfection by her family, so she learned to make them part of her charm rather than hide them. Her life changed when she accepted a commission to retrieve a sealed reliquary from a ruined chapel. Inside was no corpse, but a mirror filled with red candlelight and the voice of an ancient fiend who called itself the Red Guest. It offered Sashesh power enough to make every locked door yield, in exchange for small acts of invitation. She agreed before understanding that the invitation was reciprocal. Since then, she has suffered an unnatural hunger for the warmth of living blood, though she refuses to become a murderer and survives through animal blood, stolen funeral offerings, and carefully negotiated favors. Her magic manifests as crimson sparks, phantom velvet, and the sensation of a cold mouth near the ear. She travels under false names, seeking a way to sever the pact before the Red Guest finds a permanent doorway into the world.
