Appearance
Mwanza Bronzebowl is a broad-shouldered female dwarf with warm brown skin, a rounded face, and thick dark hair braided with small brass rings. Her beard is neatly trimmed along the jaw in the traditional style of her clan, streaked with silver from years of campaigning. She bears a pale scar across her left eyebrow and several old, carefully maintained scars on her forearms. She favors practical layered travel clothes beneath a weathered hide cuirass when expecting battle, and carries a massive greataxe whose haft is wrapped in faded blue cord.
Mannerisms
Mwanza checks the edge of her axe with her thumb whenever she is thinking. She addresses younger companions as recruits until they have proven themselves, then quietly adopts them as family. Before entering a dangerous place, she touches two fingers to the iron ledger at her belt.
Personality
Mwanza is patient, practical, and quietly affectionate with people she trusts. She listens before speaking, remembers every name, and prefers clear plans over dramatic speeches. In battle she becomes terrifyingly focused, not because she loves violence, but because she believes hesitation costs lives. She has a dry sense of humor and a habit of treating camp chores as military exercises.
Ideals
Duty. The strong are responsible for making sure the vulnerable are not abandoned. An oath is not a decoration, it is a promise made with the lives of others in mind.
Bonds
The soldiers of her old unit are her chosen family. She will cross any distance to rescue one of them or protect their descendants.
Flaws
She treats compromise as a dangerous crack in the wall and can become rigid when a wiser person would bend. She also believes she must personally answer every call for help, even when doing so endangers the people already depending on her.
Quirks
Background
Mwanza was born beneath the copper-lit halls of the Bronzebowl clan, where every child learned that a strong wall was built from many hands. Her mother kept the clan muster rolls, her father repaired siege engines, and Mwanza grew up among drill yards, forge smoke, and the steady rhythm of boots on stone. She was never the finest strategist or scholar, but she possessed an uncommon talent for standing where the line was weakest and refusing to move. During a border war, she became a soldier not for glory, but because she could not bear watching frightened villagers defend themselves with farming tools while trained warriors argued over precedence. Years of service turned Mwanza into a dependable shield for those who marched beside her. She earned her rank by leading a desperate rear guard through a mountain pass, then returned to the battlefield when she learned that wounded troops had been left behind. Her rage is not wild in the careless sense. It is a disciplined furnace, banked beneath years of loyalty, grief, and duty. Now retired from formal command, she travels wherever tyrants prey upon the helpless, carrying the names of the dead in a small iron-bound ledger. She believes every life saved is a debt repaid, and every oath kept strengthens the world against the darkness beyond the walls.
