Appearance

Hannah Valentine is an unusually tall, powerfully built fire-blooded Goliath woman with bronzed skin, dirty blonde hair, and warm yellow eyes. She carries herself with the proud, disciplined bearing of a Japanese noble, tempered by the cheerful humility of a seasoned woodswoman. Her scale mail is carefully maintained and decorated with subtle Valentine heraldry, while her cloak bears green threadwork associated with the Morvane witches. A heavy magical battleaxe hangs at her side, its edge kindling with controlled flames when she wills it. Her hands are calloused from smithing, carpentry, and years of fieldcraft.

Mannerisms

Hannah bows formally even when greeting a farmer or stablehand, then quickly relaxes into a broad smile. She inspects doors, bridges, and weapon hafts by touch, speaks to her fox as though it were a junior retainer, and quietly hums old Valentine marching songs while working.

Personality

Hannah is humble, cheerful, methodical, and genuinely interested in other people. She is slow to anger, quick to offer practical help, and popular with crowds because her warmth feels sincere rather than practiced. Beneath that friendliness is a disciplined survivor who studies exits, terrain, and the hands of anyone speaking too loudly about justice. She enjoys honest labor, well-made tools, campfire stories, and the satisfaction of leaving a place sturdier than she found it.

Ideals

Noblesse oblige. A title is worthless unless the person who bears it uses their strength to shelter those who have none.

Bonds

I will protect Kaine, my dire fox, and every innocent person caught between tyrants and the wild. House Valentine's name will be restored through deeds of mercy and courage, not empty ceremony.

Flaws

I cannot easily refuse a challenge to my family honor, even when discretion would serve everyone better. I also hide grief behind cheerfulness and may overwork myself rather than admit fear or exhaustion.

Quirks

Names every significant tool she owns and becomes visibly distressed when one is misplaced.
Leaves small carved wooden animals at safe campsites for children to find.
Offers her dire fox the first bite of any properly cooked meal.
Counts steps and landmarks when entering an unfamiliar building.
Compliments good craftsmanship regardless of who made it.

Background

Hannah Valentine is the last scion of a house that fell beneath an ecclesiarchal crusade when she was six years old. The Valentine estate was defended by the Morvane elves, Violet Morvane, one of the most powerful green witches in Europe, and Akahiko Takiaki, a samurai and kensai whose skill with the blade was matched only by his devotion to his family. As the manor burned and the crusaders closed in, Violet used ancient tree magic to send Hannah through the roots and branches to safety. She was accompanied by a bonded young animal and one of Violet and Akahiko's sons, Kaine, a half-fire-genasi, half-wood-elf who became her traveling companion and protector. Raised among woodland guardians, witch-knights, and scattered retainers, Hannah learned that noble blood was not a license to command others. It was a promise to protect them. She developed a talent for carpentry, blacksmithing, tracking, and practical wilderness craft, earning her living by repairing tools, building wagons, and forging useful implements while searching for a way to restore the Valentine name. As a Beast Master ranger, she travels with a friendly dire fox descended from the creature that fled beside her during the fall of her house. Her axe, gifted and enchanted by the Morvane circle, carries a dormant flame that answers to her resolve. Hannah's bloodline will one day lead to Athena Valentine, a sister of battle, but Hannah herself has yet to learn how far her legacy will reach.
