Appearance
Blessing is a lean, sharp-featured tiefling with dusky crimson skin, swept-back black hair, and curved horns polished smooth by constant handling. His amber eyes are bright and alert, and his thin tail rarely stays still, curling around chair legs, wrists, or the strap of his satchel. He dresses in patched but carefully arranged street clothes beneath a well-maintained leather coat. Within a minute of meeting him, people notice that he stands just a little too close and constantly checks the small brass token hanging at his throat.
Mannerisms
Blessing leans into conversations as if sharing a secret, even when he is speaking plainly. His tail coils around nearby objects, and his fingers repeatedly check the brass token at his throat whenever he hears raised voices or jingling keys.
Personality
Blessing is quick-witted, nosy, and cheerfully irreverent. He treats danger like a street performance, narrating his own escapes and grinning at people who expect him to be ashamed of what he is. Beneath the swagger, he is observant and deeply sensitive to rejection. He remembers small details about everyone he meets, especially what they fear losing.
Ideals
Freedom. No one owns me, no priest defines me, and no city gets to decide where I belong. Every lock is an argument that can be answered.
Bonds
The children living beneath the old market bridge are his family. He sends them money, food, and warnings whenever he can, and he will risk an entire job rather than knowingly abandon one of them.
Flaws
Blessing assumes every kindness has a hidden price, and he often ruins sincere relationships by testing people until they fail. When frightened, he becomes reckless and theatrical, preferring a spectacular escape to a quiet retreat.
Quirks
Background
Blessing grew up beneath the market bridges of a crowded river city, where abandoned children learned quickly that hunger was less dangerous than being noticed by the wrong adult. His infernal appearance made him an easy target for suspicion, but it also taught him to read a room before anyone else realized there was danger. He survived by carrying messages, lifting purses, and guiding travelers through alleys that did not appear on any respectable map. His closest companion was a stray mouse he called Candle, named for the warm little life it represented in a place that rarely offered warmth. A retired burglar eventually caught Blessing trying to steal from him and, instead of breaking his fingers, offered him a lesson. Under that reluctant teacher, Blessing learned the patient grammar of locks, the rhythm of patrols, and the value of leaving people with just enough dignity to doubt they had been robbed. He took the name Blessing after stealing a silver reliquary from a corrupt priest and using the proceeds to feed an entire winter's worth of street children. Now he works as a scout, courier, and occasional thief for adventurers, claiming he is only interested in freedom. In truth, he is searching for the person who once left him at the market bridge, carrying the same brass token he still wears around his neck.
