Appearance
Tibor is a broad-shouldered hill dwarf with weathered copper skin, a thick russet beard braided with iron rings, and keen gray eyes beneath heavy brows. His left cheek bears a pale scar from a workshop accident, and his hands are calloused from years of hammering metal. He wears well-maintained chain mail beneath a soot-darkened surcoat, carries a battered shield marked with his guild seal, and keeps a polished smith's hammer at his belt.
Mannerisms
Tibor taps the pommel of his weapon whenever he is thinking, inspects the edges of nearby tools without asking, and punctuates strong opinions by knocking one mailed fist against his shield. He tends to speak in short, practical sentences, then becomes unexpectedly poetic when discussing metalwork.
Personality
Tibor is blunt, energetic, and fiercely protective. He treats every broken object as a challenge rather than a nuisance and views combat as a practical craft that rewards preparation, timing, and a willingness to adapt. Though he often appears gruff, he is generous with food, tools, and hard-earned advice, especially toward apprentices and anyone being bullied by the powerful.
Ideals
Craftsmanship. Anything worth doing is worth doing well, and anything built to protect people must never be compromised for profit or pride.
Bonds
He carries his aunt's first hammer and has sworn to preserve the honor of her craft, even when doing so brings him into conflict with the guild. He also protects displaced workers, apprentices, and common folk exploited by wealthy merchants.
Flaws
Tibor has little patience for hierarchy, etiquette, or anyone who says that a problem is too complicated to confront. He is quick to accuse powerful people of corruption, sometimes before he has enough evidence, and his temper can turn a solvable disagreement into a public feud.
Quirks
Background
Tibor was born beneath the stone halls of a prosperous hill dwarf settlement, where every family was expected to master a craft and every craft was expected to outlast its maker. He apprenticed under his aunt, a renowned armorsmith whose work was famous for its balance and resilience. Tibor never possessed her patience for perfect ornamentation, but he had an instinct for practical design. He could look at a dented breastplate or a cracked axe haft and immediately understand how it had failed, then improve it before the next battle. His life changed when a shipment of guild-forged weapons was stolen by mercenaries hired to protect it. The guild elders wanted silence, fearing scandal and lost contracts. Tibor refused. He tracked the thieves across the frontier, recovered most of the stolen arms, and discovered that the guild's own treasurer had arranged the theft. When the elders attempted to bury the truth, Tibor publicly exposed the conspiracy and walked away from his workshop rather than accept a guild pardon bought with silence. Now he travels as a fighter and freelance smith, taking contracts that protect ordinary people, testing his craft in real combat, and searching for a cause worthy of the finest weapon he has yet to forge.
