Appearance
Suma is a compact, broad-shouldered aasimar with warm brown skin, close-cropped black hair, and calm gray eyes that shine faintly gold when divine power stirs. A small white scar crosses the bridge of his nose. He wears practical leather armor beneath a cream-colored healer's coat, marked with blue threadwork and many repaired pockets. His holy symbol is a simple copper sun disk, worn smooth from constant handling.
Mannerisms
Suma checks doors, windows, and exits whenever he enters a room, then immediately looks for whoever seems uncomfortable or unwell. He speaks softly, but becomes startlingly firm when someone refuses necessary care. He often counts breaths under his breath while treating injuries.
Personality
Patient, observant, and quietly cheerful. Suma assumes that every person has a useful story and every problem has at least one practical next step. He is kind without being delicate, and he gives advice in the same tone whether speaking to a frightened child, a wounded soldier, or a minor noble.
Ideals
Mercy is an action, not a feeling. If I have the strength to help and choose not to, the choice is mine to answer for.
Bonds
The hospice that raised him must never be abandoned, no matter what danger comes to its door.
Flaws
Suma cannot accept that some people are beyond saving, and he risks himself long after caution has become wisdom. He also quietly resents anyone who treats him as a holy instrument instead of a person.
Quirks
Background
Suma grew up in a highland hospice built beside an old pilgrim road, where his adoptive aunt taught him that healing was less about miracles than about staying when everyone else had gone. He learned to splint broken fingers, brew bitter fever tea, and listen without interrupting. The first time his celestial heritage appeared, it was not during a battle or a prayer. It happened when a dying mule-driver grasped his hand and Suma refused to let him face the dark alone. Warm light spilled from Suma's palm, and the man's breathing steadied until dawn. That gift attracted the attention of a wandering spirit called the Kindly Star, a distant celestial intelligence that speaks through reflected light and half-remembered dreams. Suma accepted its pact reluctantly, insisting that any power he received must be used to serve ordinary people. The Kindly Star agreed, though its messages are cryptic and its requests increasingly strange. Now Suma travels from village to village, offering practical aid, warding off monsters, and searching for the reason the spirit keeps showing him visions of a black sun above the mountains. He dislikes being called chosen. To him, power is simply another tool, and tools are meant to be shared.
