Appearance
Xiloxis stands four feet tall with a sturdy, desert-hardened build. Her skin is the color of terracotta, etched with silver tattoos that map the constellations of the Maztican sky. Her eyes are a bright, amber-orange that seems to glow in low light, earning her the name Ember-Eyes. She wears sand-colored robes over armor made from treated dinosaur hide and obsidian flakes. A heavy, obsidian disk hangs from her neck, which pulses with faint white light whenever she calls upon the stars.
Mannerisms
She frequently tilts her head back as if listening to something far above. When she is deep in thought, she rhythmically taps her obsidian star map against her chin.
Personality
Xiloxis is patient and methodical, a trait born from a century of watching the slow movement of the celestial spheres. She speaks with a soft, melodic voice and often pauses to consider if her words align with the signs she has seen. She is deeply compassionate but maintains a certain scholarly detachment, treating the world as a vast, living scroll that is meant to be interpreted. She is rarely surprised, as she believes most events are merely echoes of heavenly patterns.
Ideals
Destiny. The stars provide a path for every soul, and it is the highest calling to discover and walk that path without deviation.
Bonds
I carry a fragment of the Sunstone. It is my only connection to home and the compass for my life's mission.
Flaws
I am often so focused on the signs in the sky that I ignore the immediate needs and feelings of the people standing right in front of me.
Quirks
Background
Xiloxis was born into the House of Moon-Fire, a clan of dwarves who long ago abandoned the dark tunnels for the shimmering dunes of the Maztican deserts. While her kin mined the sands for precious glass and gems, Xiloxis looked upward. She became a Sage of the Heavens, spending decades in a cliff-side observatory documenting the movements of the Sun and the Five Wandering Stars. Her life changed when she touched the Sunstone, a sacred artifact of her temple. The stone projected a localized map of the northern jungles, highlighting a forgotten landmark hidden beneath the canopy.Xiloxis realized that her destiny was not in the stars she could see from the desert, but in the ones obscured by the northern mists. The vision was clear: she must find the Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan. The Sunstone spoke of a cosmic alignment that can only be witnessed from within its heart. Leaving her books and her people behind, she crossed the great oceans and trekked through the swamplands, using her druidic connection to the stars to guide her through the dense greenery of the north. She views her journey as a pilgrimage of absolute necessity, believing that if she fails to reach the shrine before the Great Eclipse, the celestial balance will be lost forever.
