Appearance
Engledoc is a tall, lean wood elf with bronze skin, long ash-blond hair, and sharp green eyes that rarely stop scanning the horizon. His left ear bears a small silver clan earring, deliberately cracked down the center as a symbol of exile. He wears well-maintained scale mail beneath a dark green traveling cloak, with a longbow across his back and two shortswords at his hips. His posture retains the careful dignity of nobility, though years in the wilderness have given him a weathered face and callused hands.
Mannerisms
Engledoc speaks with formal precision, even to strangers, and instinctively bows before introducing himself. When concentrating, he rubs the cracked edge of his clan earring with his thumb. He never sits with his back to a door and quietly counts exits whenever he enters an unfamiliar building.
Personality
Engledoc is disciplined, courteous, and intensely observant. He treats promises as binding contracts and shows unusual patience toward frightened commoners, animals, and outcasts. Beneath his composed noble bearing is a restless survivor who distrusts easy answers and keeps emotional distance from anyone who reminds him of his former family.
Ideals
Duty. A noble’s worth is measured by the protection he offers, not by the blood in his veins or the wealth in his halls.
Bonds
He carries his father’s cracked spellbook, not to preserve its teachings, but to find and destroy every dark ritual within it. He also hopes to prove that his clan’s honor can be restored through his own deeds.
Flaws
He is secretly terrified that his father’s darkness is hereditary and that, given the right temptation, he could become the very thing he hunts. Engledoc is also proud enough to disguise uncertainty as certainty, especially in the presence of nobles.
Quirks
Background
Engledoc was born to an ancient elven clan whose lands bordered a vast and dangerous forest. His father, a respected court mage, secretly pursued forbidden necromantic rituals, claiming that dark magic was necessary to protect the clan from an approaching threat. When the rituals were discovered, Engledoc’s father vanished into the deep woods, leaving behind corrupted relics, frightened servants, and a family name stained by scandal. Though Engledoc had never participated in the magic, the clan elders declared that his bloodline was too dangerous to remain among them. He was stripped of his inheritance and exiled beneath the cold judgment of the very people he had sworn to defend.
