Appearance
A tall, broad-shouldered bronze dragonborn with dark teal scales, a swept-back pair of ridged horns, and pale gold eyes. Old scars cross the left side of the muzzle and run beneath the collarbone. The armor is practical and well maintained, with a faded red unit sash tied around the upper arm. A heavy greatsword rests across the back, while a battered spear and shield hang from the pack. Their posture is disciplined, but the tail is rarely still when danger is near.
Mannerisms
Oruvessa checks every doorway, window, and ceiling before sitting down. She tightens her sword grip whenever someone mentions betrayal, and she addresses close companions by rank even when no rank exists. Before battle, she taps the pommel of her greatsword three times and quietly names the dead she intends to honor.
Personality
Oruvessa is steady, observant, and quietly protective. She speaks sparingly, but remembers every name, injury, and promise. She prefers clear plans and practical solutions, though she has a dry sense of humor that appears at the worst possible moment. Her stern exterior softens around recruits, children, animals, and anyone trying hard despite being afraid.
Ideals
Duty. Courage means making the choice that protects people who cannot protect themselves, not chasing glory or obeying orders without thought.
Bonds
The surviving members of the River Banner are her chosen family. She carries their unit sash and will cross any battlefield to recover a fallen comrade, living or dead. She also seeks the officer who abandoned her company during the siege that scarred her face.
Flaws
She cannot retreat from a fight if someone else is still standing behind her, even when retreat is the wiser choice. She is suspicious of comfortable officers, polished uniforms, and anyone who speaks of acceptable losses. When angry, she becomes brutally literal and treats every promise as a military order.
Quirks
Background
Oruvessa was hatched beneath the brass-roofed barracks of the River Banner, a dragonborn military household that served as scouts, engineers, and shock troops along the frontier. Her clutch was raised among marching songs, weapon drills, and the strict belief that a soldier’s first duty was to bring others home. She earned her place in the ranks by carrying messages through a burning siege line, then returned to drag three wounded comrades from a collapsed gate. The feat made her a sergeant before she had learned to enjoy praise, and she became known for choosing the difficult route if it gave the weakest soldier a better chance of survival.
