Appearance
Minnie is a broad-shouldered female orc with warm gray-green skin, a square jaw, and small ivory tusks that show whenever she smiles. Her heavy black hair is braided with copper rings and usually tied back beneath a battered leather headband. Years of hauling kegs and working bellows have left her forearms corded with muscle and her palms permanently roughened. When standing still, she rests most of her weight on one leg and loosely grips the haft of her enormous greataxe, Puppy, as though it were a walking stick. She wears a patched leather apron over practical travel clothes, with a blacksmith's hammer stamped into one brass buckle.
Mannerisms
Minnie tests the balance of unfamiliar objects with one hand, taps metal surfaces with her knuckle before trusting them, and addresses Puppy in a low, reassuring voice when preparing for a fight. When listening, she leans forward slightly and plants both feet as though bracing against a forge bellows.
Personality
Minnie is straightforward, protective, and unexpectedly domestic. She speaks to strangers as if they are customers who have not yet decided whether to trust the house, offering practical help before asking personal questions. She enjoys orderly work, clean tools, and a well-kept hearth, but her temper flares when she sees bullying or waste.
Ideals
Craftsmanship. Anything worth doing is worth doing properly, whether it is forging a horseshoe, keeping a promise, or defending someone weaker than yourself.
Bonds
The SmallCreek tavern and her stepfather's forge are her family, and she will protect both their people and their good names. She also feels responsible for any honest worker who is exploited by a powerful employer.
Flaws
Minnie has little patience for clever excuses, subtle schemes, or people who hide behind rules they do not intend to honor. Once she decides someone is being cruel, she can become dangerously certain that direct confrontation is the only honest answer.
Quirks
Background
Minnie SmallCreek grew up above the common room of her mother's riverside tavern, where she learned to judge a person's character by how they treated tired workers and empty cups. Her mother taught her that a barkeeper's first duty was keeping the peace, while her stepfather, a patient human blacksmith, taught her how to temper steel, mend hinges, and recognize the sound of a bad weld. Minnie was welcomed into the local smiths' guild after crafting a set of perfectly balanced axe heads, though she still insists that her finest work is Puppy, the lovingly maintained greataxe she names after the stray dog that slept beside the forge.
