Appearance
A lean human woman with sun-browned skin, keen gray eyes, and a shock of dark hair usually braided back with leather cord. She wears practical studded leather over a traveler’s robe, with ink stains on her fingers, a quiver at her hip, and a well-used satchel stuffed with notes, maps, and copied folios. Her look is half woodland scout, half wandering scholar, and she carries herself like someone who has already memorized the shape of the room and the nearest exit.
Mannerisms
She studies doorways and tree lines before she studies faces, speaks as if she is cross-referencing a library index in her head, and unconsciously taps two fingers against her satchel when thinking. When excited, she starts listing facts too quickly and then apologizes by smiling as though she has been caught stealing.
Personality
Curious, blunt, and quietly compassionate, Mira is the sort of woman who asks three follow-up questions and then climbs the cliff herself if the answers are not satisfactory. She is eager to help the underdog, skeptical of authority, and happiest when comparing field observations with obscure texts no one else bothered to read.
Ideals
Truth should be discovered, not inherited. Knowledge is only worthy if it protects the living, and if an institution hoards wisdom while people suffer, then breaking its rules is a moral duty.
Bonds
She carries a soot-stained page recovered from the library fire, the only surviving fragment of a vanished atlas. She has vowed to rebuild that lost collection, one salvaged secret at a time, and to find who ordered the fire in the first place.
Flaws
She cannot resist following a mystery even when prudence says to walk away. Her hunger for answers can make her secretive, and she sometimes trusts evidence more readily than people, which leaves her blind to obvious lies told with a sincere face.
Quirks
Background
Mira Vale was raised in the shadow of a provincial library where the walls were taller than the church spire and the dust was older than most family trees. She learned early that books were not cages for ideas, but doors, and that the wild country beyond town held answers the shelves had never seen. While her tutors argued over dates and dynasties, Mira slipped away to learn the language of tracks, weather, and broken branches. She became the sort of student who could quote a treatise on moon phases in the morning and name every birdcall in the valley by dusk. Her life changed when a fire took one wing of the library, along with half the local records and the old maps she had spent years copying. Mira helped save what she could, then followed the surviving clues into the hills, convinced that the blaze hid a deliberate theft. What began as research turned into a hunt, and what began as a hunt turned into a vocation. She took up the bow to survive the road, the sword to defend the helpless, and the Ranger’s path to protect knowledge that exists outside of books, in roots, bones, stars, and old ruins. She now wanders as a scholar of living things and lost places, chasing rumors, cataloging monsters, and quietly making herself impossible to ignore.
