Appearance
A broad-shouldered male orc with slate-green skin, a broken lower tusk, a flattened nose, and old scars crossing his brow, ribs, and left forearm. His black hair is shaved close on one side and tied in a short corded braid on the other. He wears battered scale armor beneath a weathered red military sash, though he often fights without the armor when speed and fury matter more. His hands are callused from weapons, reins, and years of field repairs.
Mannerisms
Gorza scans every doorway before sitting, keeps his back to a wall when possible, and taps the haft of his greataxe twice before entering a dangerous place. When angry, he becomes unusually quiet and speaks with formal military precision.
Personality
Gorza is blunt, observant, and unexpectedly patient with frightened people. He treats every companion as part of a unit, quietly checking their gear, food, and wounds without asking permission. He enjoys bad jokes, strong tea, and games of military strategy, though he insists that losing teaches more than winning.
Ideals
Freedom. No commander, king, or cause has the right to spend another person's life without earning their trust. Strength matters most when it is used to give others a choice.
Bonds
He carries the names of the fallen from all five wars, carved in tiny marks inside the haft of his greataxe. He will risk himself to protect soldiers, refugees, and frightened civilians abandoned by their commanders.
Flaws
He mistakes hesitation for cowardice, especially in himself, and becomes needlessly confrontational when someone questions his usefulness. He has difficulty accepting peaceful solutions if he believes violence would end the threat faster.
Quirks
Background
Gorza Kerren was born in a border settlement where an orc child learned early that a full pantry could disappear overnight and that every adult knew how to sleep with one hand on a weapon. He enlisted before he was old enough to understand the difference between courage and obedience. Across five wars, he served as a shield bearer, scout, camp guard, and eventually a line breaker who was sent into the worst breach when commanders needed a path opened. He remembers every battlefield by its smell, and he remembers the names of the people who did not come home. After the fifth war, Gorza discovered that victory did not make the dead less dead, and peace did not tell him what to do with his hands. He left the army with his insignia, his battered gaming set, and a dented trophy taken from an enemy officer who once promised to burn his village. Now he adventures because danger is easier to understand when it has a face, and because there are still people who need someone willing to stand between them and the blade. He wants to become more than a weapon rented by distant commanders. Each new road is a chance to choose what his strength is for.
