Appearance
Maeve is a towering human woman in her early thirties, about six feet tall, with an amazonian build shaped by relentless training. Her frame is heavily muscled, broad-shouldered, and powerful, with defined arms, carved abdominals, dense back muscles, and a fighter’s scarred hands. Pale, sun-warmed skin carries silvery battle scars across her chest, eyebrow, wrist, and knuckles. She has an angular face, a square jaw, a slightly crooked nose, green eyes with a hard, predatory focus, and a wild cropped mane of blood-red hair. She favors practical modern clothes, usually a black loose tank top and gray sweatpants, barefoot when she can be, and wears a small silver ring on a leather cord around her neck.
Mannerisms
Maeve stands with a soldier's stillness, shoulders squared, chin level, eyes constantly measuring exits, angles, and weaknesses. When she is thinking, she rolls her scarred thumb over the ring at her throat. She speaks in clipped, practical sentences, and when angry she gets quieter rather than louder. In conversation, she tends to circle people as if unconsciously checking formation.
Personality
Maeve is disciplined, direct, and hard to rattle. She respects honesty, competence, and anyone who keeps their word under pressure. In private she is dryly funny, more observant than she first appears, and surprisingly tender around people who are injured, frightened, or trying very hard to be brave. She does not waste energy on empty bravado, but when she decides someone matters, she becomes relentless in their defense.
Ideals
Duty, discipline, and protection. Strength is only meaningful if it shields the people who cannot protect themselves. A soldier's real victory is not in how hard she can hit, but in how many lives remain standing after the battle ends.
Bonds
Maeve still keeps the old rank insignia of her unit and remembers the names of every comrade she failed to bring home. She protects civilians with a near feral protectiveness, because she knows exactly what happens when armed people decide lives are expendable. Her private oath is simple, no one under her watch gets left behind if she can still stand.
Flaws
Maeve trusts competence more than kindness, and she can be brutally dismissive of hesitation, even when fear is justified. She overworks herself, treats pain like a tool instead of a warning, and has trouble accepting help when she is the one who needs it most. If someone reminds her too much of the soldiers she could not save, her temper becomes sharp and dangerous.
Quirks
Background
Maeve was raised in the hard discipline of a standing army, where strength was measured in endurance, obedience, and the willingness to keep moving after the body begged to stop. She learned early that talent was useless without repetition, and repetition without purpose was just wasted pain. By adulthood she had become the sort of soldier commanders pointed toward impossible lines and broken gates, because she was the one person who never seemed to look surprised by violence. She kept notes on formations, studied enemy habits, and turned every bruise into a lesson. Over time she rose through the ranks not by charm, but by the confidence she inspired in others when the world was falling apart around them.
“She learned early that talent was useless without repetition, and repetition without purpose was just wasted pain.”
