Appearance
Korga is a broad-shouldered half-orc woman with weather-browned green-gray skin, a square jaw, and coarse black hair cut to chin length so it cannot be grabbed in a fight. Her lower tusks are worn smooth from years of biting leather straps and wooden hafts. Her hands are the first thing most people notice, thick-fingered and deeply callused, with pale pressure marks across the palms from endless work with axe shafts, reins, and shield straps. She wears patched brown wool, a sleeveless coat of boiled leather, and a strip of red cloth tied around her left wrist. She has no dramatic scars, but her knuckles are swollen and her nails are permanently darkened by oil, dirt, and old iron dust.
Mannerisms
Korga checks the knot of the red cloth around her left wrist whenever she is thinking, then checks it again before speaking. She rolls her shoulders before entering a room, as if testing whether the walls are close enough to fight in.
Personality
Korga is practical, dryly funny, and intensely attentive to the people doing the least glamorous work. She remembers who carried the water, who repaired the wagon, and who stood watch in the rain. She dislikes grand speeches but respects anyone who can state a problem plainly and offer a workable plan.
Ideals
A contract is a promise made visible. The strong are obligated to make sure the weak are paid, protected, and remembered.
Bonds
She carries the battered company ledger of the Red Millet Company and intends to repay every surviving family listed in it, one contract at a time.
Flaws
She cannot leave a debt unresolved, even when settling it is foolish, dangerous, or clearly a trap. Korga also assumes that anyone offering unusually generous pay is either lying or planning to make the workers absorb the real cost.
Quirks
Background
Korga was born in a border settlement where contracts were spoken aloud in the market square and every family kept a packed travel bundle near the door. Her mother repaired harnesses for caravan guards, while her human father served as a camp cook and sometime spearman. Korga learned early that soldiers were not the songs told about them. They were tired people who wanted clean water, fair pay, and someone trustworthy enough to watch the horses. She joined the Red Millet Company at seventeen, first as a porter, then as a shield bearer, and eventually as the fighter commanders sent to hold a breach while everyone else reorganized. The company dissolved after a campaign in which its paymaster vanished with the wages. Korga hunted down the missing coin, recovered only a fraction, and divided it among the families of the dead before walking away. Since then, she has worked as a mercenary, bodyguard, caravan escort, and occasional strikebreaker against monsters that threaten roads and villages. During one disastrous winter campaign, the spirits of dead soldiers began answering her rage, appearing as silent figures around her enemies. Korga now treats those ancestral warriors as a second company, one that never deserts, never lies about the pay, and expects her to remember every name.
